TL;DR: A product capable of extremely high absorption of electromagnetic radiation, including visible light, useful in optical applications and as a decorative panel comprises a body made of anodizable metal, preferably aluminum having a roughened surface over which an oxide layer is deposited by anodization.
Abstract: A product capable of extremely high absorption of electromagnetic radiation, including visible light, useful in optical applications and as a decorative panel comprises a body made of anodizable metal, preferably aluminum having a roughened surface over which an oxide layer is deposited by anodization. The anodized surface is characterized by a roughened surface of pronounced peaks and valleys and a columnar, fault-ridden structure of the anodized oxide layer itself. The product is made by honing the anodizable metal surface by impacting it with aluminum oxide particles, preferably of 100 to 200 mesh size, to form peaks and valleys thereon. After honing, the surface is anodized under controlled conditions to develop the oxide layer thereover. After anodizing, the surface may be dyed and sealed. A vacuum drying and hydrogen fluoride treatment step to dry and "water-proof" the surface may be utilized to eliminate reflectance peak values at certain wavelengths. When dyed black, more than 98% of the impinging radiation of the vast majority of wavelengths of up to 120 microns is absorbed and dissipated by the surface. More than 98% of infrared radiation (above about 7.8 microns wavelength) is absorbed and dissipated by the undyed surface.

TL;DR: In this paper, a rotatable shaft was used for dental use and a replaceable honing or polishing unit made of a flexible elastic material was attached to the free end of the shaft.
Abstract: Honing and polishing instrument especially intended for dental use and being provided with a rotatable shaft. A replaceable honing or polishing unit made of a flexible elastic material can be attached to the free end of the shaft. An undercut indent in the unit embraces a radial sleeve at the free end of the shaft. The shaft also has an end portion extending axially beyond the sleeve which is inserted in a corresponding bore at the bottom of the indent in the unit.

TL;DR: In this article, a power control circuit for controlling the power to be supplied to a cutting in device so as to stabilize the grinding force to be consumed in a grinding wheel is described.
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a honing machine in which there is incorporated a power control circuit for controlling the power to be supplied to a cutting in device so as to stabilize the grinding force to be consumed in a grinding wheel. The power control circuit provides a constant power to the cutting in device while the grinding wheel is a certain size, while on the other hand, when the diameter of the grinding wheel decreases due to dressing, a correcting circuit provided in the power control circuit produces a correcting signal with respect to a rate of change of the grinding wheel diameter for correcting the power to be supplied to the cutting in device, thereby stabilizing the grinding force and preventing an undesirable increase in the grinding force.

TL;DR: In this paper, a plurality of stones carried at the lower end of a honing spindle are rotated about the spindle axis and vertically stroked in a cylindrical recess to be honed.
Abstract: A plurality of honing stones carried at the lower end of a honing spindle are rotated about the spindle axis and vertically stroked in a cylindrical recess to be honed. The upper end of the spindle is connected to a cross-member vertically displaceable on a machine frame and connected to one run of an endless chain whose other run is connected to a counterweight and which is spanned over a sprocket carried by a hydrostatic motor. A variable-displacement reversible pump connected to the motor changes the stroke direction in accordance with position signals produced by a position sensor in the machine. The force with which the tools bear on the workpiece is increased and decreased jointly with the tension in the chain.

TL;DR: The Honing Device as mentioned in this paper has a workpiece holder and a coolant feed where the honing tool sits on a spindle which can be adjsted in the direction of its longitudinal axis.
Abstract: The Honing device has a workpiece holder and a coolant feed where the honing tool sits on a spindle which can be adjsted in the direction of its longitudinal axis. There is a cleaning device (6) arranged outside the workpiece holder (3, 5) in the path of movement of the honing tool (10). The cleaning device (6) is arranged coaxial to the tool spindle axis (4), at a short distance above the workpiece holder (3, 5). The axial extension of the cleaning device is at least equal to the length of the honing stone. The cleaning device has a large number of brushes (9) which are arranged on the cylindrical inner wall (8) of a bush (7) and pass radially to the tool spindle axis (4).

TL;DR: In this article, a floating tool is used to pass a tubular tubular workpiece through a set of workpiece-clamping stations, each of which has an upper plate and a lower plate formed with a throughgoing aperture for passing the tool.
Abstract: A honing machine has a floating honing tool which is vertically reciprocal and rotatable about a vertical axis. A workpiece frame under the machine has a pair of workpiece-clamping stations each of which has an upper plate and a lower plate formed with a throughgoing aperture for passing the tool. The confronting faces of these plates are provided with centering formations and the lower plate can be displaced up toward the upper plate to clamp a tubular workpiece against it. Each upper plate can be displaced horizontally out of the way to allow the respective station to be loaded and unloaded. The workpiece frame itself can be displaced horizontally under the machine in order to align either of the stations with the tool so that as a workpiece in one station is being honed the other station can be emptied and reloaded.

TL;DR: In this article, a tubular holder is used to fit a single honing stone in a cylindrical holder with two flats which make a space through which the coolant can be forced under high pressure.
Abstract: The single honing stone (14) is mounted in a tubular holder (11) by means of a wedge (16) in such a way that it is radially adjustable. The outside diameter of the tubular holder is 0.01 mm (at the most 0.04 mm) smaller than the diameter of the bore of the hole. The honing tool (1) is mounted as a unit at one end in a clamping chuck (10) while it is supported at the other end in a bearing (12). The workpiece (5) is supported in a universal mounting, which allows it to align with the honing tool. The tubular holder has a thick wall and is provided with two flats which make a space through which the coolant can be forced under high pressure.

TL;DR: In this article, the bottom faces of these rods are angeld to match the angle of the sliding faces on the piston, and the press rods are guided in bores in the cylinder wall.
Abstract: The honing tool consists of a hollow cylinder (1) inside which, two pistons are pushed by an hydraulically operated rod towards the end of the tool. The pistons have two sliding faces which makes an angle with the centreline of the cylinder. Two radially extending press rods (18) are pushed outward by the cylinders. the bottom faces of these rods are angeld to match the angle of the sliding faces on the pistonS. The press rods are guided in bores in the cylinder wall. Two trough shaped honing strips (28) are provided with guide pins (30) with which they are guided in the cylinder. The press rods (18) engage with the inside of the troughs and press these against the surface to be honed.
