TL;DR: Advanced C++ programming methods as well as fast Pulse Detection Algorithms (PDA) have been implemented in order to increase the computing speed of a LabVIEW™ data processing software developed for a Digital Pulse Shape Discrimination (DPSD) system for liquid scintillators.

TL;DR: The development of the IBM PC was an exciting time-a brand-new design, a short design schedule, and lots of things to go wrong.
Abstract: The development of the IBM PC was an exciting time-a brand-new design, a short design schedule, and lots of things to go wrong. An insider recalls the things that happened, the problems solved, and the interesting adventures along the way.

TL;DR: Mark Dean, a participant in the original IBM PC design team, looks back 30 years to review the events that led to the design of a very "un-IBM" computer-a small device that used hardware and software from outside vendors and made the logic and BIOS code available to anybody.

TL;DR: Instead of designing the fastest or most powerful computing platform based on new technology, IBM chose the fastest path to market, creating its product from already available parts and signing up with a community of independent software vendors to provide the operating system, tools, and a library of applications.

TL;DR: The value of a comparative study of the early video game console industry and the development of the PC industry is demonstrated, for example, by an analysis of the differing roles of software in both industries.
Abstract: The value of a comparative study of the early video game console industry and the development of the PC industry is demonstrated, for example, by an analysis of the differing roles of software in both industries. The function of software in the videogame industry differed greatly from its PC counterpart. Where the IBM PC was designed as an open platform for software development, the programmable videogame console was anything but. Where the unchecked freedom to produce software bolstered the success of the PC, it sounded the death knell for the American console industry.

TL;DR: It is the 30th anniversary of the IBM PC and the idea of a "personal" computer owned and used by one person was a relatively new notion for most people.
Abstract: Where has the time gone? It is the 30th anniversary of the IBM PC. Many of us might remember when IBM announced the PC (formally the Model 5150) on August 12, 1981. There were many computers at the time, but predominantly mainframes and minicomputers. Computers were largely seen as costly resources to be time-shared by large groups. The idea of a "personal" computer owned and used by one person was a relatively new notion for most people.

TL;DR: In this paper, a car audio central control system comprises a casing, a liquid crystal display and an audio power amplifier, a computer main board, a PC (Personal Computer) equipment port and a function expansion module.
Abstract: A novel car audio central control system comprises a casing, a liquid crystal display and an audio power amplifier, a computer main board, a PC (Personal Computer) equipment port and a function expansion module, wherein the computer main board adopts an IBM PC framework; the PC equipment port and the function expansion module are placed on the computer main board; and the liquid crystal display is connected with a corresponding port of the computer main board. Based on the integrated design of the IBM PC framework, the central control system is configured with a plurality of standardized peripheral ports and the function expansion modules; and the standardization of the peripheral ports and the diversification of the function expansion modules facilitate the function expansion. Manufacturers can provide basic configuration or multifunctional configuration for users to choose. After cars are purchased, car owners can choose required port accessories and expansion modules and so on at any time, so as to increase the configuration of the car.
