TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a voltage impulse generator for striking a gas discharge lamp consisting of a choke coil in series with the lamp and a nonlinear capacitor in parallel with it, which consists of a ferroelectric ceramic dielectric.
Abstract: Voltage impulse generator for striking a gas discharge lamp consists of a choke coil in series with the lamp and a nonlinear capacitor in parallel with the lamp, which consists of a ferroelectric ceramic dielectric (I) based on substd. Pb titanate/zirconate. (I) has the formula Pb(100-x)La(x)Ti(100-y) Zr(y)O(300) (in which y is 56 to 64 and x is 1 to 1+(y-56)0.65625; y is 64 to 70 and x is 1 to 6.25; or y is 70 to 89 and x is 1 to 6.25-(y-70)0.2762). (I) gives a much higher max. current density than usual, allowing the induction of high striking voltages.

TL;DR: In this paper, an acoustic impulse generator is used to generate an acoustic or shock wave impulse for use in underwater reflection seismic surveys, where two internal pistons are adapted to slide axially within a cylindrical chamber and abutt one another to preclude escape of compressed air.
Abstract: Apparatus for controlling a release of pressurized fluid, to generate an acoustic or shock wave impulse for use in underwater reflection seismic surveys. Compressed air is supplied to the acoustic impulse generator and is used both to provide the compressed air acoustic impulse and to retain two piston members in sealing engagement with each other to maintain the compressed air within the apparatus. The two internal pistons are hollow, open-ended cylindrical members, and are adapted to slide axially within a cylindrical chamber and abutt one another to preclude escape of compressed air. To fine the acoustic impulse generator, compressed air pressure holding the first piston member in position over a series of exhaust ports is suddenly reduced, causing that piston to shift within its chamber, exposing the ports to atmosphere and thereby emitting an acoustic impulse of compressed air. Immediately thereafter, residual air pressure within the device causes the second piston to shift in the same direction following the first piston to again close the exhaust ports and preclude further escape of compressed gas, thus defining an acoustic impulse of finite duration.

TL;DR: In this article, a method and an electro-mechanical arrangement for the generating and processing of electrical impulses for the setting or correction of an electronic digital display through the intermediary of an impulse generator is presented.
Abstract: A method and an electro-mechanical arrangement for the generating and processing of electrical impulses for the setting or correction of an electronic digital display through the intermediary of an impulse generator. The impulse generator consists of an impulse transmitter and an impulse collector whereby, by means of the impulse emitter which evidences a plurality of impulse-generating elements, preferably arranged at uniform spacings in a circular path relative to a rotational axis, a plurality of electrical contacts are adapted to be closed in cooperation with the impulse-generating elements. The contacts of the impulse collector, generating mutually timewise displaced but still overlapping impulses whose frequency is proportional to the relative speed between the impulse transmitter and the impulse collector and whose phase position, in essence the phase lead and phase lag, is dependent upon the relative direction of rotation between the impulse transmitter and the impulse collector.

TL;DR: In this article, the central locking system for the vehicle has a bolt operated by the ignition lock linked to the engine and boot covers by Bowden cables and other doors of the vehicle are also locked with the locks released by a special impulse generator operated by an ignition key.
Abstract: The central locking system for the vehicle has a bolt operated by the ignition lock linked to the engine and boot covers by Bowden cables. Other doors of the vehicle are also locked with the locks released by a special impulse generator operated by the ignition key. The mechanical lock and the impulse lock are not easily forced. If the ignition lock is forced then the correct impulses cannot be obtained to release the other locks.

TL;DR: Experiences with the Chinese impulse generator MPTA 71-3 clearly show the necessity to determine the performance of the generator and to measure and record the strength, configuration and frequency of the electrical impulses employed.
Abstract: The stimulating impulses employed in electroacupuncture analgesia are of widely differing character and strength. Experiences with the Chinese impulse generator MPTA 71-3 clearly show the necessity to determine the performance of the generator and to measure and record the strength, configuration and frequency of the electrical impulses employed. A simple equipment for measuring these factors is described. The apparatus makes it possible to record the character and type of the stimuli and to compare different techniques of stimulation.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of an impulse on a typical filtered power supply was analyzed and it was shown that the amplitude of the transient at the output is almost directly proportional to the volt-second area (impulse strength) and virtually independent of the peak impulse amplitude.
Abstract: "Impulse Strength" is a relatively new parameter, having been defined officially as "the area under the amplitude-time relation for the impulse". In power systems, impulse strength is measured in volt-seconds, and it can be a critical factor in determining the "worst-case" performance of power-supply regulators, "line conditioners," or so-called "uninterruptible" systems. Mathematical analysis of the effect of an impulse on a typical filtered power supply shows that the amplitude of the transient at the output is almost directly proportional to the volt-second area (impulse strength) and virtually independent of the peak impulse amplitude. Another example relates the impulse strength, its source impedance, and the load's breakdown impedance to the destructive power of an impulse. With the recent advent of instrumentation for measuring and recording impulse strength over wide ranges, it is now posible to test systems "in situ". It is also now feasible to write power-supply, UPS, and system specifications so that the reliability of these systems is assured, even in environments having high impulse incidence and strength.

TL;DR: In this article, a vibrator drive unit is used for operating a spiral bowl feeder with a regulator that provides stepless adjustment, and the control signal from the impulse generator is dependent on the input from the vibration drive feedback and also from the input that originates from a timer element.
Abstract: A vibrator drive unit (1) is used. It is designed for operating, with spiral bowl feeder or similar installations, and it is controlled by a regulator that provides stepless adjustment. The mains supply connections to the vibrator drive magnet includes a variable switch which is controlled by an electronic impulse generator (2). The control signal from the impulse generator is dependent on the input from the vibration drive feedback and also from the input that originates from a timer element (3).
