Abstract: We report two cases in which histological appearances resembling invasive lobular carcinoma were associated with either previous biopsy or adjacent inflammation. In one case the appearances were erroneously reported as carcinoma and mastectomy was performed. Unsuccessful needle biopsies are likely to lead to these pseudomalignant reactive changes being encountered more frequently in subsequent frozen sections, and we feel that these cases therefore deserve wider attention.
