TL;DR: In this paper , two versions of the L-scales (L-12 and L-5) were developed and evaluated regarding reliability and aspects of validity, which led to the construction of a 12-item (L 12) version and a 5-item version (L 5) which were assessed in a second sample consisting of 371 German-speaking healthy adults (58.50% female) aged 18-69 years.
Abstract: In recent years, there have been many studies using the Affective Neuroscience Personality Scales (ANPS) to investigate individual differences in primary emotion traits. However, in contrast to other primary emotion traits proposed by Jaak Panksepp and colleagues, there is a considerable lack of research on the LUST (L) dimension - defined as an individual's capacity to attain sexual desire and satisfaction - a circumstance mainly caused by its exclusion from the ANPS. Therefore, this study aims to take a first step toward the development of a standardized self-rate measurement for the L-disposition. For this purpose, two versions of the L-scales (L-12 and L-5) were developed and evaluated regarding reliability and aspects of validity. After a pilot study (N = 204; female: 81%) with an initial 20-item pool item reductions were conducted. This led to the construction of a 12-item (L-12) version and a 5-item version (L-5), which were assessed in a second sample consisting of 371 German-speaking healthy adults (58.50% female) aged 18-69 years (M = 28; SD = 9.75). Aspects of external validity were assessed by investigation of correlations with the ANPS, psychiatric symptoms (Brief Symptom Inventory-18), attachment security (Adult Attachment Scales) and personality functioning (Operationalized Psychodynamic Diagnostics Structure Questionnaire). To evaluate structural validity, both L-scales were investigated via confirmatory factor analysis (CFA).Cronbach's α indicated excellent internal consistency regarding L-12 (α = 0.90), while L-5 showed acceptable reliability (α = 0.82). CFA of a bifactor model of the L-12 indicated excellent model fit. Moreover, an excellent model fit was observed regarding a single factor model of L-5. For both scales small to moderate positive correlations were observed with SEEKING, PLAY, and secure attachment, while they exhibited small to moderate negative correlations with SADNESS, insecure attachment, lower personality functioning, and increased psychiatric symptom load. Both newly developed scales exhibit satisfying psychometric properties, indicating high reliability, good structural validity and plausible correlations with external criteria. Hence, this study poses an important step toward the operationalization of the LUST concept. However, more research is needed in particular with respect to the scale's external validity and its applicability in clinical populations.

TL;DR: In this article , the authors argue that puritanical morality is no exception to the cooperative function of moral cognition and that it emerges in response to a key feature of cooperation, namely that cooperation is (ultimately) a long-term strategy, requiring (proximately) the self-control of appetites for immediate gratification.
Abstract: Abstract Why do many societies moralize apparently harmless pleasures, such as lust, gluttony, alcohol, drugs, and even music and dance? Why do they erect temperance, asceticism, sobriety, modesty, and piety as cardinal moral virtues? According to existing theories, this puritanical morality cannot be reduced to concerns for harm and fairness: it must emerge from cognitive systems that did not evolve for cooperation (e.g., disgust-based “Purity” concerns). Here, we argue that, despite appearances, puritanical morality is no exception to the cooperative function of moral cognition. It emerges in response to a key feature of cooperation, namely that cooperation is (ultimately) a long-term strategy, requiring (proximately) the self-control of appetites for immediate gratification. Puritanical moralizations condemn behaviors which, although inherently harmless, are perceived as indirectly facilitating uncooperative behaviors, by impairing the self-control required to refrain from cheating. Drinking, drugs, immodest clothing, and unruly music and dance, are condemned as stimulating short-term impulses, thus facilitating uncooperative behaviors (e.g., violence, adultery, free-riding). Overindulgence in harmless bodily pleasures (e.g., masturbation, gluttony) is perceived as making people slave to their urges, thus altering abilities to resist future antisocial temptations. Daily self-discipline, ascetic temperance, and pious ritual observance are perceived as cultivating the self-control required to honor prosocial obligations. We review psychological, historical, and ethnographic evidence supporting this account. We use this theory to explain the fall of puritanism in WEIRD societies, and discuss the cultural evolution of puritanical norms. Explaining puritanical norms does not require adding mechanisms unrelated to cooperation in our models of the moral mind.

TL;DR: A growing bioethical literature asks searching questions about this prospect, and especially about the use of such drugs to enhance or reignite attachment in flagging relationships as discussed by the authors , and suggests that there are reasons to think the states of attachment produced or facilitated by such drugs would not be desirable.
Abstract: Recent research in neurochemistry has shown there to be a number of chemical compounds that are implicated in the patterns of lust, attraction, and attachment that undergird romantic love. For example, there is evidence that the phenomenon of attachment is associated with the action of oxytocin and vasopressin. There is therefore some reason to suppose that patterns of lust, attraction, and attachment could be regulated via manipulation of these substances in the brain: in other words, by their use as 'love drugs'. A growing bioethical literature asks searching questions about this prospect, and especially about the use of such drugs to enhance or reignite attachment in flagging relationships. This Element examines some of the central arguments on the topic, and sounds a note of caution. It urges that there are reasons to think the states of attachment produced or facilitated by the use of such drugs would not be desirable.

TL;DR: Betty Dodson et al. as discussed by the authors discuss the sexualaufklärerin und Mitbegründerin des sexpositiven Feminismus Betty Dodson in den 1970er-Jahren, öffentlich über weibliche Genitalien and Selbstbefriedigung sprechen.

TL;DR: A catalogue of the classical arts of love in seven cultures, all of which shared the goal of showing human sex not to be the unthinking activity of animals, is given in this article .
Abstract: Love and lust, the sensuous and the spiritual, battle it out in this impressive catalogue of the classical arts of love in seven cultures, all of which shared the goal of showing human sex not to be the unthinking activity of animals. To this end, beauty and love are shown to hold sway in the classical theories. There is a nice rhythm in the order of their presentation. After an introductory first chapter, each subsequent chapter presents the erotic arts of a particular culture. The order is determined by whether or not the culture arose in what Karl Jaspers called the Axial Age, which is taken to have been between 800 and 300 BCE. This was a time of transformation, between the no longer and the not yet, during which seminal figures appeared independently in Greece, Israel, Persia, India, and China, some of whom were Socrates and Plato, the Hebrew...

TL;DR: In this article , the implementation of Asmaul Husna reading in increasing the spiritual intelligence of students of the Faculty of Ushuluddin, Adab, and Da'wah (FUAD), State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Pekalongan was investigated.
Abstract: The general public tends to prioritize aspects of intellectual intelligence (IQ) over other aspects, such as spiritual intelligence (SQ). In higher education, this is reflected in the phenomenon among students who experience a lot of spiritual emptiness in studying. The education system that only teaches students in terms of academic aspects is not enough to fulfill intelligence for students. Therefore, this study aims to determine the implementation of Asmaul Husna reading in increasing the spiritual intelligence of students of the Faculty of Ushuluddin, Adab, and Da'wah (FUAD), State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Pekalongan. This type of research is field research. The method of data collection was carried out using the method of observation, interviews, filling out questionnaires, and documentation. The data that has been obtained is then analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative descriptive methods. The results showed that the reading of Asmaul Husna at FUAD had a positive influence on the spiritual intelligence of students. In general, students were very enthusiastic about participating in the reading of Asmaul Husna. Research respondents who came from students obtained spiritual intelligence scores in the category range 148-246 referring to the assessment of Ary Ginanjar Agustian. The score is in the good/high category. Students implement Dhikr Asmaul Husna according to the stages in achieving the example of Dhikr Asmaul Husna, namely increasing ma’rifah through knowledge and piety; freeing oneself from the bondage of lust and lust, and purifying the soul by way of morals with the character of Allah Swt.

TL;DR: Kunci et al. as discussed by the authors found that in the pre-Islamic era, the nature of marriage was something that was natural and cultural, and the purpose of marriage is only to obtain offspring and satisfy lust.
Abstract: Abstract: Marriage is a sacred event experienced by a man and a woman. According to the marriage, there is inner and outer peace, but looking at the historical facts, especially in the pre-Islamic era, women did not get a favorable position at that time. Which is influenced by the socio-cultural society that adheres to a patriarchal system. So, that men monopolize all matters related to family matters. This results in inequality in social life. The existence of a marriage tradition rooted in the patriarchal system, resulted in the marriage being like a sale and purchase contract, where women became the object of merchandise. From the results of the study it was found that in the pre-Islamic era, the nature of marriage was something that was natural and cultural. Meanwhile, the purpose of marriage is only to obtain offspring and satisfy lust. As long as for the Islamic era, the nature of marriage is something that is instinctive and the law is regulated by religion. With the result that marriage is intended to worship, find happiness, produce offspring, and vent lust. Keywords: Marriage; Pre-Islamic; Early Islam.

TL;DR: In this article , the authors analyse Islamic psychology from the perspective of Al-Kindi, which comes from psychological science, and show that the human soul is divided into three parts: lust, emotion, and rationale.
Abstract: Islamic psychology was originally a study of humans which should have been a study of human behaviour based on a self-approach to God. After the Islamic world faded, it was replaced by western domination, to which the study of psychology implicitly regressed. This study aims to analyse Islamic psychology from the perspective of Al-kindi, which comes from psychological science. The method used in this study is library research or a review study to obtain theoretical data basis on scientific theory and further select and analyse the literature appropriate to the addressed topics. The investigation showed that, since 1978, Islamic psychology had been an international public discourse. Secondly, according to Al-Kindi, the human soul is divided into three parts: lust, emotion, and rationale. On the other hand, the human soul has three powers: mind, anger, and desire.

TL;DR: In this article , the authors explore the conceptual Maqïshid Syari'ah developed by an Egyptian fiqh expert Muhammad Abdul Athî Muhammad Ali, and its implications in reconstructing fIQH as an effort to respond to the symptoms of new social phenomena in today's society.
Abstract: The purpose of this study is to explore the conceptual Maqãshid Syari’ah developed by an Egyptian fiqh expert Muhammad Abdul Athî Muhammad Ali, and its implications in reconstructing fiqh as an effort to respond to the symptoms of new social phenomena in today’s society. Recently, there have been many community social activities labeled as Islam, but at the practical level, they are indicated to be contrary to the principles of Islamic teachings. One of these phenomena is Ta’arruf online, where Ta’arruf has become a new lifestyle for some Muslims, especially those who have just made the hijrah process. However, this phenomenon is alleged to be another method to get a partner to marry quickly, which the Ikhwan (male) uses to trick the Akhwat (women) who vent their lust or lust. The theory developed by Abdul Athî, a senior scholar at Al-Azhar University in Egypt, attempts to reconstruct the thinking paradigm of the millennial generation in viewing online ta’arruf as a symptom of a social phenomenon. The limited understanding of the millennial generation towards religion sometimes triggers and gives birth to new problems. Through a library study of his main work entitled Al-Maqãshid Al-Syar’iyyah wa Atsãruhã fî Al-Fiqh Al-Islãmî and several other works as well as data analysis by Miles and Huberman, the results show thatIn the perspective of Al-Athi’s maqãshid Sharia, producing a fiqh law today must be built with the principle of prudence, supported by an in-depth study of the condition of society, so that a clear fiqh rule is born that can solve solutions, not problems.

Abstract: Sangam literature is the epitome of Tamil literature. It has internal and external distinctions. Among them, Pulavar’s called the blissful life of one and the same person who is united by similar love as Agam. The characters in this are called internal Characters. He called their speeches statements. The Characters that make up that claim are categorized as Kalavu and Karppu. The Tolkappiyam (Tol. 1445 - 1452) states that these include the ten who listened to the claims of the Hero and the Heroine, Bangan, friend, nurse, Panan, Kuttan, Virali, Bharata, Ariva, Condor, etc., In the songs composed by Eva, the honors of the Hero and the Heroine are spoken. Abstract: A relatively large number of serial lust killers were adopted as young children. It appears that those who commit sexual violence against women feel a resentment against their mothers for their adoption. In turn, this fuels resentment against either women in general or those having characteristics in common with their mothers. This would be in addition to the general factor of the disturbance of bonding, which might be common in cases of adoption. The chapter looks at three cases of killers who held such resentment. David Berkowitz was sexually excited by shooting at courting couples, but did not have any sexual contact with his victims. He masturbated to associated imagery. Jack Unterweger was a celebrity in Viennese cultural circuits but killed sex workers in association with having sex with them. Steve Wright killed sex workers in association with having sex with them.

Abstract: Tholkappiyam is a very famous Tamil grammar text from which we can learn about the culture of ancient Tamil people. It has recorded the culture of Tamil people and their love life through sutras. Many different opinions are given by Tamil scholars about the text. The reason for this is, the articles or review for Tholkappiyam is written after many years. Based on the cultural and linguistic contexts of the society, the text editors of Tholkappiyam have given interpretations about love and lust that are different but they are suitable for the text. The text material for Tholkappiyam is based on Aryan tradition. By reading the materials of the text editors, their rise a question whether Tholkappiyar has written this text based on the love life and moral values of the lower-class people. Although some of the text editors have written that the love life of those people is morally inappropriate, but in Sangam literature there are records that the man marrying his lady by climbing the flap. The purpose of this article is to compare the Tholkappiyam text and marapilakanam texts that mentions the discipline of the ancient people and to find out the original content of Tholkappiyam.

The story The Devil by L. Tolstoy has traditionally been interpreted by the Russian literary scholars in two contexts. They either see the writer’s personal experience or they interpret it as a religiously motivated moral and ethical warning that it is vital for a man to resist the devil’s temptations. At least, I have not managed to find any other different approaches to interpret L. Tolstoy’s story in the open sources. The aim of this paper is to analyze and interpret the story The Devil by L. Tolstoy by means of the structural-semantic and structural-functional methods, taking into consideration such a rare artistic phenomenon as the double end, the existing fact of which has not received any professional evaluation and appropriate interpretation in literary studies.Due to the suggested approach, the conclusions are made that the double end of the story under analysis could not happen by chance.First, telling the story of Yevgeny Irtenev, the author turns to an obvious device of withholding, hence the real reason, the hero’s irresistible lust for Stepanida, which drives the main character to act, is demonized and transmitted to the female protagonist obtaining a mystic character.Second, comparing the story The Devil with the novel The Story of O by P. Réage, one can see another double end linked with sexual problematics but with the difference that in the novel by the French writer, this problematics is not concealed but, on the contrary, exhibited.Third, the non-randomness of the double end is affirmed by the fact that, demonizing the lust which overtook the protagonist of the story, L. Tolstoy like P. Réage frees this lust from necessity or determination. Due to the fact that the story happened to have two ends, the sexually motivated Irtenev’s story acquires at least ambivalent, ambiguous, or, in the terms of poetics, non-linear character which, by definition, tends to hypertextuality in case the latter is understood as “a form of brunching or responding text” (T. Nelson).Abiding by the suggested approach, the story by L. Tolstoy can be interpreted as an experimental literary work where breaking the traditional composition structure of the text, on the one hand, is determined by tabooed, i.e. sexual, problematics, which made the author resort to demonization of the latter. On the other hand, the writer opted for the artistic non-linear, alternative end of the story told. The story happened to be potentially hypertextual which, taking into consideration historical technological circumstances, should be identified rather as a proto-hypertextual one. Thus, the original genius of L. Tolstoy foresaw the virtual future of fiction with the proto-hypertextuality phenomenon in the story The Devil.

TL;DR: Sutcliffe and Bellfield as discussed by the authors described a love-hate relationship with sex workers, fascinated by them and engaged them in sex, but disgusted by them, and killed them.
Abstract: Revenge probably features in most, if not all, lust killing. This chapter exemplifies where revenge for perceived transgression comes into the clearest focus and seems to occupy center stage. Of course, the revenge was disproportionate to the ‘offence’, a feature of displaced aggression and ‘revenge collecting’. Part of the trigger to revenge is a blow to self-esteem. The antagonism that Peter Sutcliffe felt towards women appeared to derive from suspicions over his partner’s infidelity and being cheated by a sex worker. Sutcliffe seemed to have a kind of love-hate relationship with sex workers. He was fascinated by them and engaged them in sex but was also disgusted by them and killed them. It can be speculated that Levi Bellfield’s toxic trajectory started when as a boy he was jilted by a blond girl. Most of his victims were blond girls, yet he sought this type as his girlfriends. Sergey Golovkin targeted boys.

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors distinguish serial lust killing from other forms of serial killing, such as those motivated by attention-seeking, revenge or material gain, and suggest that such killing can only be understood in terms of a dynamic biology-social interaction.
Abstract: The chapter distinguishes serial lust killing from other forms of serial killing, such as those motivated by attention-seeking, revenge or material gain. However, it notes that other motivations such as those reflected in mission-killing and ego-boosting can combine with killing motivated by sexual desire. It also distinguishes serial lust killing from mass killing and spree killing. The notion of motivation is key to understanding lust killing as the behaviour is guided by a clear purpose and intention, such as to obtain sexual pleasure by the exertion of dominance over a victim. Most serial lust killers are not judged to be insane and are thereby held accountable by law. The chapter rejects the dichotomies of nature versus nurture and social versus biological, suggesting that such killing can only be understood in terms of a dynamic biology-social interaction. The importance of the acquisition of control is described.

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors tried to find answers related to the behavioral control method of TQN adolescent salik at the Darussalam Islamic Boarding School, Gombong Kebumen.
Abstract: Adolescents with various accompanying problems such as juvenile delinquency, bulliying, addiction problems, academic problems and so on were real problems of adolescent. One of the factors behind this problem was education in Indonesia which focused on exoteric approach so that the esoteric area in the formation of behavior was untouched. Therefore, research on adolescent salik of Qadiriyah wa Naqsyabandiyah (TQN) sufi order was one of the approaches to answer the problem of adolescent behavior that occurs. The theory for analyzing the amaliyah of TQN of adolescent salik was Hirschi and Gottfredson's theory of behavioral control which is one aspect of self-control. This study tried to find answers related to the behavioral control method of TQN adolescent salik at the Darussalam Islamic Boarding School, Gombong Kebumen. This research approach was phenomenology, which focused on the experiences of adolescent salik towards TQN amaliyah. The main data sources in this study were 12 adolescent salics and a Mursyid of TQN. The data were collected by unstructured interviews and participatory observations method. Based on the data in the field, the determinants of behavior were the saliks themselves. The saliks were independent and free in determining their own behavior. In regulating the stimulus, the saliks suppressed the appearance of lust with dhikr. Another method was omission, this omission was carried out under conditions when there was a stimulus that provokes the lust such as anger lust. This method was applied by all saliks when facing various conditions. The third method of behaviral control was the rejection of a stimulus such as an invitation to behavior that violated the rules or violated religious teachings.

TL;DR: A paraphilia is sexual behaviour that lies outside conventional bounds, such as exhibitionism as mentioned in this paper , and it can form an association with killing, and sexual arousal derived from cutting the skin.
Abstract: A paraphilia is sexual behaviour that lies outside conventional bounds, such as exhibitionism. They are of interest in that lust killers commonly also exhibit paraphilias, and they can form an association with killing. Voyeurism sometimes features in association with lust killing, as a gateway activity. A fetish describes sexual arousal to an inanimate object, while a partialism describes sexual arousal to particular body features, such as feet. Serial lust killers often take objects (such as items of clothing) from their victims, in an attempt to recreate the killing, accompanied by masturbation. Sometimes a body part is taken, such as a breast. The term ‘picquerism’ refers to sexual arousal derived from cutting the skin. There are some features in common between non-lethal rape and lust killing. Rape sometimes serves as a gateway activity for lust killing. Some men are attracted to necrophilia without showing violence towards their target.

TL;DR: In this paper , a wide range of sources were used to interpret world history, considering as its key events episodes of approaching to the understanding and realization of love, followed by periods of retreat, repulsion from it with subsequent discovery of other ways, and the result was the third rejec- tion: while in traditional cultures protection from the unpredictable power of love and the suffering associated with it was sought in arranged and forced marriages, in the 21st century it is sought in the withdrawal from serious relationships and the prac- tice of "living solo, where any relationship (even purely sexual) is seen as too dangerous and traumatic.
Abstract: On the basis of a wide range of sources the author offers an original interpreta- tion of world history, considering as its key events episodes of approaching to the understanding and realization of love, followed by periods of retreat, repulsion from it with subsequent discovery of other ways. The first such episode in the course of Homo sapiens evolution was the emergence of love as an unpredictable affec- tive connection to a specific, unique person, first through looking (thanks to mirror neurons) and then bodily (in connection with procreation). The reaction to this phe- nomenon and the suffering it generates was the social institution of marriage, uni- versal for humanity and built on guarantees (according to calculation and the choice of relatives or the community), in which love was, as it were, put out of the equa- tion. The second episode is connected to Christianity, when the appearance of the incarnate and personal God, who not only preached but was personally understood as love, caused a backlash — a mixture of love and lust, devaluation of marriage, hos- tility toward the body as the source of evil. The paradoxical solution was the uncom- promising prohibition on divorce, established in the West thanks to Saint Augustine, that is, the idea of eternal love, but not Platonic and abstract, but inscribed in the very concrete, corporeal level of social life. On this foundation, love first became the key theme of Western culture and then, in the course of the Romantic Revolution of the 18th and 19th centuries, the main criterion for choosing a spouse and the basis of the family. The radical idea of mar- riage for love spread around the world for 150 years along with globalization, but in the last 50 years it has been rapidly eroding. This process intensified with the spread of contraception and the shift from monogamous marriage to serial monogamy and/ or free relationships that can break up at any moment. The result was the third rejec- tion: while in traditional cultures protection from the unpredictable power of love and the suffering associated with it was sought in arranged and forced marriages, in the 21st century it is sought in the withdrawal from serious relationships, in the dis- placement of love by contractual relationships on comfortable terms, and the prac- tice of “living solo,” where any relationship (even purely sexual) is seen as too dangerous and traumatic.

TL;DR: In the Legend of Hypsipyle and Medea, Jason is portrayed as a predator whose compulsive need for sex with new women lays waste to all around him as mentioned in this paper .
Abstract: ABSTRACT In the Legend of Hypsipyle and Medea, Jason is portrayed as a predator whose compulsive need for sex with new women lays waste to all around him. Chaucer's sequence of imagery explores the continuums of lust and desire, of form and formlessness, providing insight on sexually predatory men, the currency of love, and the deep lack that spurs avarice. This reading of the legend highlights some recurrent motifs—dragons, foxes, gold, and emptiness—and discusses what these interlinked signs tell us about Chaucer's philosophy, his aesthetic and moral plan for the Legend of Good Women, and his continuing fascination with predatory masculine sexual behavior and compulsive infidelity, which he reads as a kind of shapeshifting. This legend presents a pessimistic and cautionary vision of a recurring human behavior, a biological urge that becomes unstoppable when it is couched behind gentility, as it was in the “first” seducer, Jason.

TL;DR: The underestimation of women affects the confidence of women and under-scales women's educational inspiration as mentioned in this paper , and women are very inferior in every sector of the sphere of human life.
Abstract: Women are very inferior in every sector of the sphere of human life. Illiterate mothers or fathers cannot make well-decision and cannot contribute fruitful ideas at the family, society, national and international levels as well. Women are identified as men’s names. They are not, according to recognition, normal beings in the patriarchal society; women have accepted their fate and many of them started enjoying this status as well. Although they carry and flourish their lord’s name being empowered and developed, they are not out of greedy sight of men who are women’s fathers, brothers, and sons as well. Continuously women are violated, depressed, and victimized for sex even though they are young or old; child or daughter; it does not matter to the men except lust. The underestimation to women affects the confidence of women and under-scales women’s educational inspiration. The article attempts how women and adolescent girls are underestimated and considered a matter of nothing in the civilized modern world by physical torture like single rape, seduction, and gang rape; the result is to be death for the safety of males. The scope of this work is to recheck Bangladeshi women’s contribution in feminism through literature and to unfold the untold challenges among students of educational institutes in Bangladesh. The article aimed to term ‘feminism as F-independence’ and ‘M-independance’.
