Abstract: A method of instantaneously establishing the athwartship stability of a ship with respect to such factors as the cargo in different cargo spaces, the center of gravity of the cargo and, optionally, the free surface area of any liquid in a space, in which method signals representing said factors are treated together with other signals for providing a different signal representing the metacentric height and thus the athwartship stability of the ship.
