Abstract: Virtually all MBA programs and many management development programs include courses on probability and statistics, operations research and computer programming. These have generally been added in an acl ltoc fashion with little regard for their integration with each other and with the total program. This paper, based on experience at the Stanford Business School and INSEAD, suggests that a basic course on modeling and simulation can play a vital role in rationalizing existing management science courses and that in addition, such a course can be used to teach the basic principles of management decision making.
