Abstract: SYNOPSIS The benefits obtained from the addition of small quantities of chlorinated polyolefins to paving grade asphalt binders were investigated. A chlorinated polyethylene plastomer, Tyrin 2552, and a chlorinated olefinic elastomer, Tyrin CM0730, were added to asphalt binders at 3 and 5 wt % and subsequently reactively processed to facilitate compatibilization. The mixtures were analyzed for rheological performance relating to fatigue and rutting as well as low-temperature fracture performance. The addition of small quantities of these polymers to the asphalt binders resulted in significant improvements over conventional modifiers at both the high and low temperature extremes. 0 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.

TL;DR: A thermoplastic polymer composition incorporating at least 50 wt % polypropylene, at least 20 wt% of an elastomer such as EP rubber and at least about 4 Wt % plastomer is used to produce large components such as bumpers and exterior trim fascia for automobiles as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: A thermoplastic polymer composition incorporating at least about 50 wt % polypropylene, at least about 20 wt % of an elastomer such as EP rubber and at least about 4 wt % plastomer. The plastomer is preferably a single site catalyzed ethylene based copolymer having a density less than about 0.915. By adjusting the amount of the plastomer in the composition, considerable control is secured over post-mold shrinkage of components produced through injection molding operations utilizing the composition. The composition can be prepared as a reactor blend or a melt blend. The composition is particularly useful in producing large components such as bumpers and exterior trim fascia for automobiles.

TL;DR: In this article, the surfaces of white fillers such as Kornica chalk, precipitated calcium carbonate and KOG Kaolin were modified with a variety of proadhesive compounds in different amounts.
Abstract: Investigation into possible modifications of surfaces of white fillers such as Kornica chalk, precipitated calcium carbonate and KOG Kaolin. The surfaces of these fillers were modified with a variety of proadhesive compounds in different amounts. Optimum proadhesive compound was determined for each kind of filler. The modified fillers were tested in rubber mixtures based on butadiene-styrene rubber and in polyurethanes.

TL;DR: In this paper, the blown fabrication characteristics of a constrained ge ometry catalyst technology (CGCT) polymer to a conventional LLDPE polymer with the similar melt index and density are compared.
Abstract: The introduction of a new family of substantially linear poly olefin copolymers made using the Insite* technology process and marketed under the Affinity* Polyolefin Plastomer (POP) tradename offers polymers with different structure-fabrication-property relationships compared to conven tional linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) polymers. The objective of this paper is to compare the blown fabrication characteristics of a constrained ge ometry catalyst technology (CGCT) polymer to a conventional LLDPE polymer with the similar melt index and density.

TL;DR: An improved covered or coupled fabric particularly for coverings, tensile structures, trucks, inflatable products in general, air conveyance, water containment, including a support made of fabric which is spread with, or coupled to, a compact or non-compact elastomer or plastomer compound as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: An improved covered or coupled fabric particularly for coverings, tensile structures, trucks, inflatable products in general, air conveyance, water containment, including a support (10) made of fabric which is spread with, or coupled to, a compact or non-compact elastomer or plastomer compound (11,12); in one or more regions the support is parted by dividing the weft and/or warp threads into two independently-woven groups (10a,10b), forming tubular elements (13) for the insertion of straps or other flexible or rigid elements, or for inflation or filling with water.

TL;DR: In this paper, both full and semi-interpenetrating polymer networks (IPNs) of polybutadiene and poly(methyl methacrylate) were synthesized by sequential polymerization.
Abstract: Both full and semi-interpenetrating polymer networks (IPNs) of polybutadiene and poly(methyl methacrylate) were synthesized by sequential polymerization. The effect of compositional variation and the cross-linking agent of both elastomer and plastomer on the physical, mechanical, and morphological properties were investigated. Full-IPNs exhibited improved tensile strength, modulus, tear strength, gel content, and density, whereas the corresponding semi-IPNs exhibited better toughness and elongation at break. Phase morphology of full-IPNs were characterized by compact, tight network structures compared to those of semi-IPNs. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
