TL;DR: In this article, an alternative way of measuring the components of aggregate production, which considers composition as a separate component, is proposed, which affords consistent treatment of both measures of aggregate inputs and productivity and places focus on changes in the structure of production as a source of growth.
Abstract: Certain inconsistencies exist in the current measurement of aggregate inputs and productivity in agriculture. These inconsistencies result from an implicit neglect of composition, a phenomenon of aggregate production. An alternative way of measuring the components of aggregate production, which considers composition as a separate component, is proposed. This alternative affords consistent treatment of both measures of aggregate inputs and productivity and places focus on changes in the structure of production as a source of growth.
