Abstract: A gas turbine electric powerplant, preferably driven by an aeroderivative turbine engine of split shaft design. The gas turbine engine is coupled to a speed reducer, which is in turn coupled to an electric generator. An engine mount is provided that ensures that the gas turbine engine will remain in proper alignment with the speed reducer and generator, even during the thermal expansion or contraction thereof. Preferably, the components comprising the powerplant are mounted to a common, transportable base, so that the powerplant can be delivered to various locations. An overspeed control system is provided for ensuring that a runaway condition of the gas turbine engine does not occur should the gas turbine engine become disconnected from the speed reducer or generator. Sensors are used to monitor multiple operating conditions of the powerplant. A microprocessor-based control system communicates with the sensors, and is further adapted to activate the overspeed control system if an overspeed condition is detected.

Abstract: An speed reducer assembly is provided along with a method and apparatus for adjusting the speed reducer assembly to achieve zero backlash. The speed reducer assembly includes a split worm with a fixed worm segment and a floating worm segment which mesh with the teeth of the gear. The position of the worm relative to the gear can be precisely and accurately adjusted without disassembly of the speed reducer or removal of the speed reducer assembly from the housing. Elimination of a constant spring force on the floating worm segment of the split worm also provides for the elimination of drag which results in a speed reducer assembly with increased efficiency. The elimination of drag also reduces the wear on the elements of the speed reducer assembly.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem on an electric power steering device using resin teeth for a reducing gear mechanism (a worm reducer) that the resin property of the resin teeth is lowered as it is used because the glass transition temperature of a resin is within a vehicle operating temperature range, to increase the backlash of the reducing gear mechanism and impair steering feeling or cause unusual noises (grinding of the teeth). SOLUTION: This electric power steering device comprises a reducing gear mechanism (a worm reducer 99) having a driven gear (a worm wheel 2) with resin teeth 2b, the resin teeth 2b being formed of a radiation crosslinking resin. Therefore, the good electric power steering device can be obtained without increasing the backlash of the gear reducing mechanism as it is used.

Abstract: A mounting system for a speed reducer having a housing with a rotatable input drive coupled with the housing and a gear train coupled with the input to drive an output. The mounting system has a cylinder having an inner and outer surface and two ends. The outer surface includes a portion adapted to couple with the drive train. The outer surface at both ends may have a threaded portion or another securement portion. The inner surface may be tapered from both the ends such that the tapers are substantially symmetrical about the cylinder. A bushing ring, with an internal diameter, may include threads to threadily connect with either threaded end of the output cylinder, or another type of securement may be used. A bushing, which includes a flange and a cylindrical portion, is adapted to couple with the bushing ring. The flange portion couples with the bushing ring on either side of the output cylinder. The cylindrical portion may have an outer tapered surface complementary to the inner tapered surface of the cylinder. The bushing secures the speed reducer with a shaft so that the speed reducer may be secured to the shaft from either end of the cylinder.

To improve such a pressure reducer that a corresponding flow restrictor with a facilitated construction is reliable and can exactly be adjusted in position, the recirculating ball nut is detachably fastened to a turning sleeve rotatably mounted in the flow-around body and the recirculating ball nut is connected with a driving toothed wheel in a rotation-resistant manner, which is rotatable by an electric drive for the movable connected with recirculating ball nut.

SOLUTION: The power transmission device consists of a first power transmission part 10A which transmits the rotation of a rotating shaft 2a of the rotating electric machine 2 to a crank shaft 1a of an engine 1 through a reducer 11 and a one-way clutch 12, and a second power transmission part 10B which transmits the rotation of the rotating electric machine 2 to the crank shaft 1a through an electromagnetic clutch 14 and a power transmission mechanism 13 having a smaller reduction ratio than the reducer 11 which are provided between the rotating shaft of the rotating electric machine and the crank shaft of the engine. Abstract: This paper assesses the costs of maintaining a virtual shared heap in our parallel graph reducer (GUM), which implements a parallel functional language. GUM performs automatic and dynamic resource management for both work and data. We introduce extensions to the original design of GUM, aiming at a more flexible memory management and communication mechanism to deal with high-latency systems. We then present measurements of running GUM on a Beowulf cluster, evaluating the overhead of dynamic distributed memory management and the effectiveness of the new memory management and communication mechanisms.

The elastic deformation means (12) comprises an elastic member that elastically connects the output shaft (10a) and outer ring (10b) of the planetary gear speed reducer. Therefore, when a short-time excessive torque is produced in the generator due to instantaneous voltage drop, power failure or the like, it is possible to maintain the operation of the generation facility and secure the power source of the important load and to reduce the installation length to make the apparatus compact.

The power of the engine is transmitted to the rear wheels via a propeller shaft and a final speed reducer, and the propeller shaft is provided with a rising gradient from the engine toward the final speed reducer. As a result, the final speed reducer can be disposed in our upper position. In other words, the final speed reducer can be disposed at a high position from the ground, so that a sufficient suspension stroke is obtained. As a consequence, the design freedom or layout freedom of the vehicle is expanded.
