TL;DR: In this article, the suitability of the heat flow meter apparatus for thermal conductivity and specific heat capacity tests of concrete, as well as to determine specific heat capacities values for 14 different plasters was observed.
Abstract: The aim of this study was to observe the suitability of the heat flow meter apparatus for thermal conductivity and specific heat capacity tests of concrete, as well as to determine specific heat capacity values for 14 different plasters. In total, two concrete types, five floor screed plasters, two fixing plasters, six wall screed plasters, and one specialized plaster that had small EPS spheres added into it were tested. The main novelty value of this research is studying how well heat flow meter apparatus can determine specific heat capacities of inhomogeneous materials. Also, how precisely thermal conductivity could be measured from small concrete specimens of interest. The results measured with the most suitable methods were in line with published values, which indicate that the apparatus was suitable for both tests.

Abstract: The invention discloses a construction method of a crack-resisting cement stabilized crushed stone base course. The problems that at present, contraction fissures of a traditional cement stabilized crushed stone are many, the surface is prone to loosening after freeze-thaw, the defects of the construction mode exist in the construction side, and therefore large-area cracks and freeze-thaw are generated in the subsequent process of the road surface are solved. According to the key points of the technical scheme, the construction method comprises the following steps that (a), the crack-resisting cement stabilized crushed stone base course comprises a collected material, 3%-5% of cement and water, the curve of the screen hole size of the collected material and the passing percentage is in an S shape; (b), a mixture is mixed; (c), the mixture is conveyed; (d), the mixture is paved, specifically, square timber cushion blocks are put under a paver screed plate in advance, and mixture paving adopts two pavers to synchronously operate in an echelon formation mode; (e), the mixture is grinded; and (f), curing is conducted, specifically, a curing film or geotechnical cloth is covered to conduct hydrating curing, so that the surface of the cement stabilized course keeps a moist state all the time, and the cement stabilized crushed stone base course with the crack-resisting property being obviously improved is obtained.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a multi-layer compaction finisher apparatus and a multi-layer compaction method. The multi-layer compaction finisher apparatus comprises: a drive unit to perform a movement; a hopper unit to accommodate concrete; a discharge unit to pour accommodated concrete; and a screed having a vibrator to compact a surface of poured concrete. The multi-layer compaction finisher apparatus forms a pavement; a lower layer compaction unit is disposed on a rear of the discharge unit; a compaction surface of a lower portion of the lower layer compaction unit is positioned below a compaction surface of the screed; a height of the lower layer compaction unit is adjusted by a height adjustment unit; an attachable compaction unit is selectively coupled to both ends in a width direction to flexibly adjust a length in a width direction; a side compaction unit is disposed on a side of the finisher apparatus; the side compaction unit is formed to allow a form panel to adjust an angle around a hinge unit to flexibly adjust an inclination of a side of the pavement; and the vibrator is included to perform vibration compaction. Accordingly, a lack of compaction is able to be overcome to secure a uniform aggregate distribution regardless of a thickness of the pavement.

A controller is configured to determine an estimated paving material temperature adjacent the screed plate based upon the actual paving material temperature and operate a heater to maintain the screed plate temperature within a temperature variation range relative to the estimated paving material temperature.

Abstract: Today, only a very small portion of plastic waste is recycled, while huge quantities remain untreated and are becoming increasingly worrying. The search for other alternatives is still an urgent necessity so that these wastes can be reduced to the maximum; their valorization may be the best solution. This study concerns a new technique for the valorization of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic bottle wastes, in order to design a composite material, i.e. siliceous sand-PET, which then gives a Waste Plastic Lightweight Aggregate “WPLA”. Our hope is to provide solutions to specific and general applications in the field of construction. Some observations are noted on the effects of this composite on destructive and non-destructive testing, such as the physical properties and mechanical behaviors of an industrial composite screed, by substituting 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100% by weight of natural aggregate by this composite. Scanning electron microscope (SEM), FT-IR and X-ray diffraction analyses were used to better understand the cement hydration products of the composite mortars. Some possible uses of this screed, or even of the composite itself, can subsequently be recommended. Encouraging results were obtained regarding the usage of this composite aggregate as an eco-material in the field of construction for sustainable development. In addition, it provides environmental-friendly and cost-effective solutions in using recycled materials for concrete construction applications.
