Abstract: A method for providing communication service onboard a remote location where landline and cellular telephone service is unavailable. The method utilizes a communication system that includes an onboard local area network (LAN) having an onboard server, at least one smart communication device operable by an onboard user, and a base station server system having a base station server. The method connects the smart device to the onboard LAN using one of a plurality of input/output (I/O) interfaces, utilizes a wireless communication link and IP telephony to exchange communications between the onboard server and the base station server; and controls data flow within the communication system.

Abstract: A system and method for storing and reading digital identifications and permissions with access rights and protection of privacy and integrity of data stored on a smart device is disclosed (Figure 5). Multiple levels of secuirity are permitted and the use of a single card for multiple user roles and multiple access methods are described (Figure 6). Application of the invention to situations involving air travellers identity (Figure 4), medical records and prescription (Figure 3) and secure employee access are illustrated.
