TL;DR: The growth medium for C.atramentarius (Bull. exFr.)Fr. was formulated according toHumfield andSugihara (7) andJennison etal.(8) and wasofthe following composition (wt/vol): glucose, 5%; maltextract, 1%;potato extract, 10%;KH2PO4, 0.057%.
Abstract: produced bysubmerged fermentation andthe effect ofsomesugars onhemagglutination by these extracts. Themushrooms studied, Volvariella volvacea,Termitomyces clypeatus (Heim), Panafolus papillionaceus (Bull. exFr.)Quel, Gymnopilus chrysimyces (Berk), Lentinus squarrosulus (Mont.), Coprinus lagopus (Fr.) Fr.,andCoprinus atramentarius (Bull. exFr.) Fr., werenot knownpreviously tohavehemagglutinins. Mediaandconditions fortheoptimum submerged growth ofthefirst sixmushroom strains have beendescribed earlier (2-4). Thegrowth mediumforC.atramentarius (Bull. exFr.)Fr.was formulated according toHumfield andSugihara (7)andJennison etal.(8)andwasofthe following composition (wt/vol): glucose, 5%; maltextract, 1%;potato extract, 10%;KH2PO4, 0.087%; CaCl2 *2H20,0.037%; MgSO47H20, 0.05%; CuSO4*5H20, 0.0039%; FeSO4*7H20, 0.025%; MnCl2 *4H20,0.0036%; NaMoO4 4H20,0.0032%; ZnSO4*7H20,0.03%; boric acid, 0.057%. ThepHwasadjusted to5.0. The organism wasgrownat30°Cfor10days, andthe mycelial yield wasabout 5g(dryweight) per liter ofmedium.Othermushrooms wereharvested after maximumgrowth (2-4). Mycelia
