TL;DR: Physiological data supported the subject's report that training enabled him to deal with his anxiety more effectively during job interviews, and unobtrusive measures of eye contact, fluency of speech, appropriateness of verbal content, and composure supported the subjects' report thatTraining generalized to his daily social interactions on the job.
Abstract: A 30-year-old recent college graduate, exhibiting extreme anxiety and deficient verbal skills in job interviews, was treated with a social-skills training procedure that included instructions, modelling, behavior rehearsal, and videotape feedback. Three target behaviors--focused responses, over coping statements, and subject-generated questions--were presented using a multiple-baseline design. Galvanic skin-response activity was monitored during pre- and posttraining in vivo job interviews. In addition, independent judges unobstrusively rated the subject's social-communicative behaviors in his temporary worksetting before and after training. Training resulted in expected changes for all three target behaviors and a decrease in the rate of speech disturbances. Physiological data supported the subject's report that training enabled him to deal with his anxiety more effectively during job interviews. Training was found to generalize to novel interview questions and different interviewers. Furthermore, unobtrusive measures of eye contact, fluency of speech, appropriateness of verbal content, and composure supported the subject's report that training generalized to his daily social interactions on the job.

TL;DR: This paper highlights the strengths and notes the deficits in recent drug abuse prevention research design, and makes recommendations regarding the design of future studies, and explains the rationale behind those recommendations.
Abstract: This paper highlights the strengths and notes the deficits in recent drug abuse prevention research design. Then it recommends that future studies include: .(1) a longer follow-up period than 2 years, (2) a population “at risk” for drug abuse, (3) a “natural setting,” (4) random assignment to program and nonprogram groups, and (5) objective drug use interviews along with unobtrusive measures of the correlates of drug abuse. The rationale behind each recommendation is discussed. Research design in drug abuse prevention has become more sophisticated every year. This paper will analyze the design features of significant studies, make recommendations regarding the design of future studies, and explain the rationale behind those recommendations.

TL;DR: In this paper, the incentive value of the Navy Campus for Achievement (NCFA) for recruiting was evaluated using unobtrusive measures, and the importance of educational and training opportunities, the seasonality and limitations of advertising in recruiting, and methodology used in the evaluation were discussed and recommendations are made.
Abstract: : The incentive value of the Navy Campus for Achievement (NCFA) for recruiting was evaluated using unobtrusive measures. Recruiter demand for a recruiting aid (brochure) solely featuring NCFA was compared against the demand for the most popular enlisted and officer aids. A Time magazine and TV Guide ad featuring NCFA was compared against other ads in Time and TV Guide over a 3-year period by the rate of return of coupons accompanying the ads. The material featuring NCFA compared as well or better (magazine ads) than the other material featuring general themes. The importance of educational and training opportunities, the seasonality and limitations of advertising in recruiting, and the methodology used in the evaluation are discussed and recommendations are made.
