Genetic variation in aggression-related traits in Golden Retriever dogs

TL;DR: In this study, heritabilities of several measures of aggression were estimated in a group of 325 Golden Retrievers, using the Restricted Maximum Likelihood method, and the most reliable heritability estimates seemed to be those for simple dog owner impressions of human- and dog-directed aggression.
Journal ArticleDOI

Estimates of genetic parameters for hip and elbow dysplasia in Finnish Rottweilers.

TL;DR: Data from 2,764 Rottweiler dogs born from 1987 to 1996 were analyzed with a Restricted Maximum Likelihood procedure using a mixed linear animal model to obtain variance component estimates for hip and elbow dysplasia.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dairy cattle production in Europe

TL;DR: This paper highlights the main characteristics of dairy cattle production in the EU, as well as their impact on cow and herd reproductive performances and the use of embryo technologies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Suitability for field service in 4 breeds of guide dogs

TL;DR: Overall, the current 4-month standard training program at The Seeing Eye seemed mostly successful for LGX and LR, whereas GS and GR had a higher success rate when being passed back, i.e., they were more likely to graduate as guide dogs when they were trained for a longer period than the standardTraining program.
