A study was made of the radical and electrophilic halogenation of barene and phenylbarene.

The radical chlorination of barene and phenylbarene goes selectively at B — H bonds without affecting the C — H bonds.

The electrophilic chlorination and bromination of phenylbarene go both at B — H bonds and at C — H bonds in the phenyl ring.

When deca-B-chlorobarene is heated at 300° it is isomerized to deca-B-chloroneobarene.

Decaborane forms complexes with triethylphosphite, triphenylphosphite, and dibutyl ester of phenylphosphinous acid, and triethyltrithiophosphite, the complexes being of the type: B10H12 [P(OR)3]2 and B10H12 [P(SR)3]2.

Triethyiarsenite, triethyltrithioarsenite, and tri(thioethyl)stibine are reduced by decaborane to the corresponding metals.

A study was made of the35Cl NQR spectra in the series of o-, m-, and p-carboranecarboxylic acids. Some of the highest NQR frequencies of the chlorine atom in the COCl group are observed in the studied compounds.
