Mean fields and fluctuation moments in unstably stratified turbulent boundary layers

TL;DR: A more elaborate theory was proposed by Betchov & Yaglom (1971) who used a suggestion of Zilitinkevich (1971), according to which, within an unstably stratified boundary layer there are three special sublayers where turbulence structure is self-preserving and obeys rather simple power laws as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Heat and mass transfer between a rough wall and turbulent fluid flow at high Reynolds and Péclet numbers

TL;DR: In this article, the authors derived a heat and mass transfer law for fully turbulent flow along a rough wall, which is quite analogous to Millikan's (1939) derivation of a skin-friction law for smooth-and rough-wall flows.
Journal ArticleDOI

Similarity treatment of moving-equilibrium turbulent boundary layers in adverse pressure gradients

TL;DR: In this paper, a general family of velocity profiles is derived from the simplified equations supplemented by some experimental information, which is used for the derivation of a skin-friction law which predicts satisfactorily the values of the wall shear stress at any nonnegative value of the pressure gradient.
