Journal ArticleDOI
Dysregulation of IL-32 in myelodysplastic syndrome and chronic myelomonocytic leukemia modulates apoptosis and impairs NK function.
A. Mario Q. Marcondes,Andrew J. Mhyre,Derek L. Stirewalt,Soo-Hyun Kim,Charles A. Dinarello,H. Joachim Deeg +5 more
TL;DR: It is proposed that IL-32 is a marrow stromal marker that distinguishes patients with myelodysplastic syndrome and chronic myelomonocytic leukemia and may be a therapeutic target.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tumour necrosis factor‐induced gene expression in human marrow stroma: clues to the pathophysiology of MDS?
Derek L. Stirewalt,Derek L. Stirewalt,Andrew J. Mhyre,A. Mario Q. Marcondes,Era L. Pogosova-Agadjanyan,Nissa Abbasi,Jerald P. Radich,Jerald P. Radich,H. Joachim Deeg,H. Joachim Deeg +9 more
TL;DR: The results suggested that Tnf induced a complex set of pro‐inflammatory and pro‐apoptotic signals in stroma cells that promote apoptosis in malignant myeloid clones.
Journal ArticleDOI
The helix-loop-helix transcription factor TWIST is dysregulated in myelodysplastic syndromes
TL;DR: It is shown that CD34(+) marrow cells in advanced MDS express high levels of TWIST, a basic helix-loop-helix transcription factor that opposes p53 function, which suggests role for dysregulation of TWist in the pathophysiology of MDS.
Journal ArticleDOI
α1-Antitrypsin Combines with Plasma Fatty Acids and Induces Angiopoietin-like Protein 4 Expression.
Eileen Frenzel,Sabine Wrenger,Britta Brügger,Sandeep Salipalli,Stephan Immenschuh,Nupur Aggarwal,Ralf Lichtinghagen,Ravi Mahadeva,A. Mario Q. Marcondes,Charles A. Dinarello,Tobias Welte,Sabina Janciauskiene +11 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that A1AT (Prolastin), a potent inducer of Angptl4, contains significant quantities of the fatty acids (FA) linoleic acid and oleic acid, which provide a mechanism for the broad immune-regulatory properties of A1 AT independent of its antiprotease activity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transcriptional regulation of miR-10a/b by TWIST-1 in myelodysplastic syndromes
Xiang Li,Feng Xu,Feng Xu,ChunKang Chang,John Byon,Thalia Papayannopoulou,H. Joachim Deeg,H. Joachim Deeg,A. Mario Q. Marcondes +8 more
TL;DR: A role for miR 10a/10b in the regulation of apoptosis in myelodysplastic syndrome is supported and the TWIST-1/miR10a/b-axis is suggested as a therapeutic target in myELodys Plastic syndrome.
