Journal ArticleDOI
Chitosan as a potential natural compound to control pre and postharvest diseases of horticultural commodities
Silvia Bautista-Baños,A. N. Hernández-Lauzardo,M. G. Velázquez-del Valle,Mónica Hernández-López,E. Ait Barka,Elsa Bosquez-Molina,Charles L. Wilson +6 more
TL;DR: As a nontoxic biodegradable material, as well as an elicitor, chitosan has the potential to become a new class of plant protectant, assisting towards the goal of sustainable agriculture.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antifungal effects of chitosan with different molecular weights on in vitro development of Rhizopus stolonifer (Ehrenb.:Fr.) Vuill
A. N. Hernández-Lauzardo,Silvia Bautista-Baños,M. G. Velázquez-del Valle,M.G. Méndez-Montealvo,Mirna M. Sánchez-Rivera,Luis A. Bello-Pérez +5 more
TL;DR: The low molecular weight chitosan was more effective for inhibition of mycelial growth while the high molecular weight diazepam affected spore shape, sporulation and germination of Rhizopus stolonifer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antagonistic activity of Cuban native rhizobacteria against Fusarium verticillioides (Sacc.) Nirenb. in maize (Zea mays L.)
Annia Hernández-Rodríguez,Mayra Heydrich-Pérez,Yanelis Acebo-Guerrero,M. G. Velázquez-del Valle,A. N. Hernández-Lauzardo +4 more
TL;DR: The results demonstrated that these rhizobacteria produce IAA and exhibit antagonistic effect on F. verticillioides M1, and potentially effective bacterial strains were selected and could be used in agriculture, for the enhancement of plant growth and disease control in maize crop.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of chitosan on growth and plasma membrane properties of Rhizopus stolonifer (Ehrenb.:Fr.) Vuill
J. García-Rincón,Josam Vega-Pérez,María Guadalupe Guerra-Sánchez,A. N. Hernández-Lauzardo,A. Peña-Díaz,M. G. Velázquez-del Valle +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of chitosan (0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 mg ml−1) on mycelium growth, potassium efflux, pH of the incubation medium, and activity of plasma membrane H+-ATPase of Rhizopus stolonifer was evaluated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antifungal activity and release of compounds on Rhizopus stolonifer (Ehrenb.:Fr.) Vuill. by effect of chitosan with different molecular weights.
María Guadalupe Guerra-Sánchez,Josam Vega-Pérez,M. G. Velázquez-del Valle,A. N. Hernández-Lauzardo +3 more
TL;DR: All types of chitosan showed antifungal activity and increased significantly the glucose consumption and the release of compounds in the three isolates of R. stolonifer.
