Surface effects and the formation of metal hydrides

TL;DR: In this article, the theoretical and experimental knowledge of hydrogen chemisorption on clean and precovered metal surfaces and correlate it with the techniques for preparing metal hydrides are summarized.
Journal ArticleDOI

Self restoring of the active surface in LaNi5

TL;DR: In this paper, photoemission spectroscopy, Auger electron, and measurements' of the magnetic susceptibility and magnetization of LaNi5 have been used to investigate the self-restoration mechanism of the active surface.
Journal ArticleDOI

Surface analysis of Mg2NiMg, Mg2Ni and Mg2Cu☆

TL;DR: Using X-ray photoemission spectroscopy and Auger electron spectros-copy, this paper analyzed the chemical states and the concentrations of magnesium, nickel and copper at the surface of the eutectic alloy MgMg2Ni and of the intermetallic compounds Mg 2Ni and Mg2Cu.
Journal ArticleDOI

Magnetism and hydrogen storage in LaNi5, FeTi and Mg2Ni

TL;DR: The intermetallic compounds LaNi5, FeTi and Mg2Ni are Pauli paramagnets with the susceptibilities 4.6, 3 to 4, and 0.9 × 10-6 emu/g, resp.
Journal ArticleDOI

A new mechanism for lengthening the lifetime of hydrogenation catalysts

TL;DR: In this paper, the magnetic properties of LaNi 5 and FeTi have been used to predict that FeTi can replace Fe-catalysts being more resistant to contaminants, thereby prolonging the lifetime of the catalyst.
