Internal blast loading in a buried lined tunnel

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a comprehensive approach to simulate an explosion occurring inside a buried axisymmetric lined cavity, which considers all the stages of the process: detonation of the internal charge, the shock wave propagation in the internal gas and its following interaction with the cavity's shell lining including multiple reflections; soil-structure dynamic interaction, including multiple gap opening/closure and wave propagation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Blast response of a lined cavity in a porous saturated soil

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a comprehensive approach to simulate the blast response of a lined cavity in a porous soil by using a coupled Godunov-variational-difference approach.
Journal ArticleDOI

A coupled simulation of an explosion inside a lined cavity surrounded by a plastic compressible medium

TL;DR: In this paper, a coupled approach to simulate an axisymmetric explosion inside a buried lined cavity was developed, which allows accounting for all the stages of the process: detonation of the internal charge, the shock wave propagation in the internal gas with further interaction with the lining, including multiple reflections, soil-structure dynamic interaction, including many gap openings and closures, and wave propagation of the surrounding compressible plastic medium.

On wave processes in soil subjected to a surface charge explosion

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe the numerical results pertaining to the action of a surface explosive charge transmitted to sand through a metal plate and examine the influence of volume plastic strains and friction forces on wave processes in soil.
Journal ArticleDOI

An investigation of the impact and penetration of solids of revolution into soft earth

TL;DR: In this article, the impact and penetration of rigid and deformable bodies of revolution into soft soil is described by Grigoryan's model and the effect of the surface Coulomb friction, the bulk compressibility and the shear strength of soft soil on the forces of resistance and contact pressures in the contact zone is analyzed.
