Flavonoids are generalized, broad-spectrum, healthy substances that naturally exist in the plant kingdom. The great need for flavonoid consumption leads to finding new sample pretreatments and analytical methods for their determination at different sources and in continuous product development. Sample pretreatment is the stage that consumes more time and solvents, for this reason, innovative and environmentally friendly alternative methods to reduce analysis time and environmental pollution have been the main objective of the works that are carried out in recent years. This review addresses the analysis methodologies of flavonoids and their current sample pretreatment mentioning to the trend of its automation-based flow analysis techniques, including recent results and future approaches.

A quantitative determination method for total flavonoids in blood-red hawthorn leaves recalculated as vitexin 2″-O-rhamnoside using difference spectrophotometry at 392 nm was developed. The error of a single determination of total flavonoids in blood-red hawthorn leaves was ± 1.57% with confidence probability 95%. The contents of total flavonoids in blood-red hawthorn leaves varied from 2.65 ± 0.05 to 3.53 ± 0.06%.

Tinctures of tansy and immortelle are featured by rapid onset of the effect and prolonged action, while the tincture of common bearberry has a long latency period and prolonged action. Under normal conditions of gravity, flavonoid rutin stimulates diuresis only through tubular component; under hypergravity, simultaneously via glomerular and tubular components.
