Study on tool wear and surface roughness in machining of particulate aluminum metal matrix composite-response surface methodology approach

TL;DR: In this article, the machinability evaluation of a homogenized 20% SiCp LM25 Al MMC manufactured through the stir cast route was investigated. And the machining process parameters were optimized using desirability-based approach response surface methodology.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of point geometry and their influence on thrust and delamination in drilling of polymeric composites

TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of point geometry on thrust and delamination was studied on glass fiber reinforced plastics using carbide drill points with different point geometries, and the results showed that drill point geometry has considerable influence on both the thrust and the delamination.
Journal ArticleDOI

Acoustic emission based drill condition monitoring during drilling of glass/phenolic polymeric composite using wavelet packet transform

TL;DR: In this paper, wavelet packet transform is used as a tool, to characterise the acoustic emission signals released from glass/phenolic polymeric composite during drilling, and the results show that the selected monitoring indices from the wavelet coefficients are capable of detecting the drill condition effectively.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluation of drilling characteristics of high volume fraction fibre glass reinforced polymeric composite

TL;DR: In this paper, the dynamics of drilling of high volume fraction glass fiber reinforced composite is studied. And the results demonstrated the capability of wavelet packet transform (WPT) in signal characterisation.
Journal ArticleDOI

An experimental analysis and measurement of process performances in machining of nimonic C-263 super alloy

TL;DR: In this article, an experimental investigation and analysis of the machining parameters while turning the nimonic C-263 alloy, using whisker reinforced ceramic inserts, is presented, where the effect of different parameters and their interactions on the cutting force, flank wear and surface roughness are studied in detail.
