Journal ArticleDOI

Superficial and deep sternal wound infection after more than 9000 coronary artery bypass graft (CABG): incidence, risk factors and mortality.

TL;DR: Rarely reported previously, the two risk factors of hypertension and the female gender were significant risk factors for developingternal wound infection in 9201 patients who underwent CABG at Tehran Heart Center between January 2002 and February 2006.
Journal ArticleDOI

Factors affecting postoperative morbidity and mortality in isolated coronary artery bypass graft surgery.

TL;DR: The multivariate analysis of the preoperative risk model revealed that the best predictors of operative mortality were a history of diabetes, hypertension, previous CABG, the presence of angina, arrhythmia, Canadian Cardiovascular Society Classification (CCS) of grade III or IV, ejection fraction (EF) ≤30%, three-vessel disease, and left main disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of a psychoeducation intervention on fear and anxiety about surgery: Randomized trial in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting

TL;DR: In patients undergoing CABG, adding psychoeducation to routine care had a significant positive effect on fear but not on anxiety scores, and a larger study of psychoeducation in these patients is warranted to assess the efficacy of this intervention in greater detail.
Journal ArticleDOI

Coronary artery bypass grafting in patients with low ejection fraction: the effect of intra-aortic balloon pump insertion on early outcome.

TL;DR: Low ejection fraction can positively affect thirty-day mortality and prolonged LOS and ICU stay in patients who undergo CABG and in these patients, IABP insertion is a strong predictor for early complication and mortality.
Journal ArticleDOI

Efficacy of colchicine versus placebo for the treatment of pericardial effusion after open-heart surgery: A randomized, placebo-controlled trial

TL;DR: Prescription of colchicine does not seem to be effective in treatment of asymptomatic postoperative PE, and this could be justified in case that the etiology of most of the PEs might be contribution of noninflammatory factors which are better to be dealt with observational approaches.
