Journal ArticleDOI
Scedosporium and Lomentospora: an updated overview of underrated opportunists.
Andoni Ramirez-Garcia,Aize Pellon,Aitor Rementeria,Idoia Buldain,Eliana Barreto-Bergter,Rodrigo Rollin-Pinheiro,Jardel Vieira de Meirelles,Mariana Ingrid Dutra da Silva Xisto,Stéphane Ranque,Vladimír Havlíček,Patrick Vandeputte,Yohann Le Govic,Jean-Philippe Bouchara,Sandrine Giraud,Sharon C.-A. Chen,Johannes Rainer,Ana Alastruey-Izquierdo,María Teresa Martín-Gómez,Leyre M. López-Soria,Javier Pemán,Carsten Schwarz,Anne Bernhardt,Kathrin Tintelnot,Javier Capilla,Adela Martin-Vicente,José F. Cano-Lira,Markus Nagl,Michaela Lackner,Laszlo Irinyi,Wieland Meyer,Sybren de Hoog,Fernando L. Hernando +31 more
TL;DR: The current review presents recent findings and summarizes the most relevant points, including the Scedosporium/Lomentospora taxonomy, environmental distribution, epidemiology, pathology, virulence factors, immunology, diagnostic methods, and therapeutic strategies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cladosporium Species Recovered from Clinical Samples in the United States
Marcelo Sandoval-Denis,Deanna A. Sutton,Adela Martin-Vicente,José F. Cano-Lira,Nathan P. Wiederhold,Josep Guarro,Josepa Gené +6 more
TL;DR: A large set of Cladosporium isolates recovered from clinical samples in the United States are studied to ascertain the predominant species there in light of recent taxonomic changes in this genus and to determine whether some could possibly be rare potential pathogens.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fusaric acid contributes to virulence of Fusarium oxysporum on plant and mammalian hosts.
Cristina López-Díaz,Vahid Rahjoo,Michael Sulyok,Veronica Ghionna,Adela Martin-Vicente,Javier Capilla,Antonio Di Pietro,Manuel S. López-Berges +7 more
TL;DR: The severity of vascular wilt symptoms on tomato plants and the mortality of immunosuppressed mice were significantly reduced in fub1Δ mutants and fully restored in the complemented strains, suggesting a possible function of FA as a chelating agent of these metal ions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification and Antifungal Susceptibility of Penicillium-Like Fungi from Clinical Samples in the United States
Marcela Guevara-Suarez,Deanna A. Sutton,José F. Cano-Lira,Dania García,Adela Martin-Vicente,Nathan P. Wiederhold,Josep Guarro,Josepa Gené +7 more
TL;DR: The potent in vitro activity of amphotericin B and terbinafine and of the echinocandins against Penicillium and Talaromyces species might offer a good therapeutic alternative for the treatment of infections caused by these fungi.
Journal ArticleDOI
Whole-genome sequencing reveals highly specific gene targeting by in vitro assembled Cas9-ribonucleoprotein complexes in Aspergillus fumigatus
Qusai Al Abdallah,Ana Camila Oliveira Souza,Adela Martin-Vicente,Wenbo Ge,Jarrod R. Fortwendel +4 more
TL;DR: The adaptation of a simple CRISPR/Cas9 system for gene deletion that is effective across multiple genetic backgrounds of Aspergillus fumigatus using in vitro assembled RNPs coupled with microhomology repair templates is a reliable method of gene targeting.
