Background: Breast cancer is a great concern for women’s health; early detection can play a key role in reducing associated morbidity and mortality. The objective of this study was to systematically assess the effectiveness of model-based interventions for breast cancer screening behavior of women. Methods: We searched Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science, Science Direct, Cochrane library and Google scholar search engines for systematic reviews, clinical trials, pre- and post-test or quasi-experimental studies (with limits to publication dates from 2000-2017), Keywords were: breast cancer, screening, systematic review, trials, and health model. In this review, qualitative analysis was used to assess the heterogeneity of data. Results: Thirty six articles with 17,770 female participants were included in this review. The Health belief model was used in twenty three articles as the basis for intervention. Two articles used both the Health belief model and the Health Promotion Model, 5 articles used Health belief model and The Trans theoretical Model, 2 used Hthe ealth belief model and Theory planned behavior, 2 used the Health belief model and the Trans theoretical Model, 2 used the Trans theoretical Model, 1 used social cognitive theory, and 1 used Systematic Comprehensive Health Education and Promotion Model. The results showed that model-based educational interventions are more effective for BSE and CBE and mammography screening behavior of women compare to no model based intervention. The Health belief model was the most popular model for promoting breast cancer screening behavior. Conclusions: Educational model-based interventions promote self-care and create a foundation for improving breast cancer screening behavior of women and increase policy makers’ awareness and efforts towards its enhancement breast cancer screening behavior.

Effects of Model-Based Interventions on Breast Cancer Screening Behavior of Women: a Systematic Review

Objective This study aims to evaluate medication adherence in hypertensive patients and to identify the influential factors. Methods This descriptive, cross-sectional study included a total of 147 hypertensive patients who were admitted to Akdogan Health Center between December 2016 and February 2017. The Descriptive Data Form and Medication Adherence Self-Efficacy Scale were used as the data collection tools. Results The mean Medication Adherence Self-Efficacy Scale score was found to be 70.29 ± 8.52. Age, duration of HT, the frequency of follow-up visit for HT, the status of taking medication regularly, the frequency of blood pressure measurement and the status of alternative method use were found to be effective in medication adherence. Conclusions Our study results suggest that medication adherence is good in patients with hypertension (HT). Factors which are effective in medication adherence should be taken into consideration, when evaluating the medication adherence in patients with HT.

GIRIS ve AMAC: Bu arastirma, kadinlarin menopoza iliskin tutumlari ve menopozal yakinmalari arasindaki iliskinin incelenmesi amaciyla gerceklestirilmistir. YONTEM ve GERECLER: Tanimlayici ve kesitsel nitelikte bir arastirmadir. Arastirmanin orneklemini Mugla belediyesine ait bir kultur merkezinde yaygin egitim kurslarina katilan 152 kadin olusturmustur. Veriler, anket yontemi ile arastirmacilar tarafindan 2016 yili Nisan- Haziran aylarinda toplanmistir. Veri toplama araclari olarak, Sosyo-demografik soru formu, Menopoza Iliskin Tutum Olcegi, Menopoz Semptomlarini Degerlendirme Olcegi kullanilmistir. BULGULAR: Arastirma kapsamina alinan kadinlarin yas ortalamasi 52.96±4.53’dur. Kadinlarin %55.9’unun kronik bir hastaligi oldugu, %50.7’sinin surekli ilac kullandigi belirlenmistir. Kadinlarin menopoza girme yas ortalamasinin 46.15±4.60 oldugu, %50’sinin menopoza iliskin bilgi aldigi, menopozal yakinmalarla bas etmek icin %58.6’sinin hic bir sey yapmadiklari, %25.7’sinin alternatif uygulamalar yaptigi belirlenmistir. Calismada kadinlarin menopoza iliskin tutum olcegi puan ortalamasinin 46.15±11.68, menopoz semptomlarini degerlendirme olcegi puan ortalamasinin ise 14.65±7.62 oldugu saptanmistir. Kadinlarin menopozal tutum ile menopozal semptomlari arasinda istatistiksel olarak anlamli bir iliskinin oldugu belirlenmistir (r=-0.416, p=0.000). TARTISMA ve SONUC: Bu bulgular dogrultusunda, calismaya katilan kadinlarin olumlu menopozal tutum icinde olduklari ve menopozal yakinmalarinin hafif duzeyde oldugu sonucuna varilmistir. Yine bu calismanin sonucuna gore, olumlu menopozal tutum icinde olanlarin daha az menopozal semptom yasadigi soylenebilir. Farkli orneklem gruplarinda benzer calismalarin yapilmasi, ayrica menopozal semptomlarin siddetini ve olumsuz etkilerini azaltmaya yonelik menopoza iliskin olumlu tutum gelistirme, semptomlarla bas etmeye yonelik kadinlarin desteklenmesi, ebe ve hemsirelerin bu konuda etkin rol oynamasi, onerilebilir.

ÖZET GİRİŞ ve AMAÇ: Bu tanımlayıcı araştırma, hipertansiyon hastalarının ilaç tedavisine uyum düzeyleri ve uyumu etkileyebilecek bireysel faktörleri incelemek amacıyla yapıldı. YÖNTEM ve GEREÇLER: Araştırma, 11 Temmuz-17 Ağustos 2012 tarihleri arasında, Muğla Merkez 1 Nolu Aile Sağlığı Merkezi’nde 287 hipertansif birey üzerinde gerçekleştirildi. Veriler, Sosyo-Demografik Soru Formu ve İlaç Tedavisine Bağlılık/Uyum ÖzEtkililik Ölçeği ile toplandı. BULGULAR: Katılımcıların yaş ortalamasının 59.45±11.50, % 54.4’ünün kadın, % 81.2’sinin evli, %54.7’sinin ilkokul mezunu ve %25.5’inin sigara içtiği belirlendi. Hipertansiyon tedavisi görme süresi (yıl) ortalaması 8.49±6.12 olup, %48.1’inin hipertansiyon dışında kronik bir hastalığının olduğu saptandı. İlaç Tedavisine Bağlılık/Uyum Öz-Etkililik Ölçeği Puan Ortalaması 64.67±9.59 olup, sigara içmeyen katılımcıların ölçek puan ortalaması sigara içenlere göre yüksek, fark ise istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bulundu (p<0.05). TARTIŞMA ve SONUÇ: Araştırma sonucuna göre İlaç Tedavisine Bağlılık/Uyum ÖzEtkililik Ölçeği puan ortalamasının yüksek olması, bireylerin hipertansiyon tedavisine uyumunun iyi düzeyde olduğunu göstermektedir. METHODS: This study was conducted with 287 hypertansive patients between from July 11 to August 17, 2012, at primary health center in Muğla. The data was collected using sociodemographic questions form and medication adherence self-efficacy scale (MASES) in hypertensive patients. RESULTS: The mean age of participants was 59.45±11.50, 54.4% female, 81.2% married, 54.7 Primary school, 25.5% have used cigarette, and the mean of duration of treatment 8.49±6.12, In addition 48.1% of sample have chronic diseases. The mean score of participants related to medication adherence selfefficacy scale (MASES) were 64.67± 9,59. It was found that difference statistically significant not using cigarette with the mean score of medication adherence self-efficacy scale (MASES) of participants (p<0.05). DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: According to the finding of the study mean score of medication adherence self-efficacy scale (MASES) of participants was high level.

The Compliance Level of Treatment of Hypertensive Patients

Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in women. Early detection of breast cancer is known to increase survival rates significantly after diagnosis. This research was carried out to determine the level of breast cancer risk among primary healthcare nurses and their belief in breast cancer screening. In this descriptive research, the data were collected in face-to-face interviews with the participants. The researchers contacted all primary healthcare nurses currently working in the province. The data collection tools included a questionnaire form on sociodemographic characteristics, breast cancer risk assessment form, and Champion's Health Belief Model Scale (CHBMS) for breast cancer screening. In data analysis, descriptive statistics, t test, and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used. The mean age of nurses was 35 ± 3.6. The mean score for the breast cancer risk assessment form was calculated as 82.9 ± 18.7. The subscale scores for the CHBMS for breast cancer screening were as follows: susceptibility 7.3 ± 1.8, seriousness 19.5 ± 4.1, benefits of breast self-exam 15.5 ± 2.6, barriers to breast self-exam 15.1 ± 2.8, self-efficacy 40.3 ± 7.0, and motivation 19.5 ± 4.1. The risk of breast cancer was found to be low in the study group. The analysis of the subscale scores for the CHBMS for breast cancer screening revealed that nurses had a below-average susceptibility perception, a somewhat lower perception of seriousness, an above-average mean score for perceived benefits, a moderate barrier perception, a relatively high perceived self-efficacy, and motivation above average.

Assessment of Breast Cancer Risk and Belief in Breast Cancer Screening Among the Primary Healthcare Nurses

Introduction: Breast cancer is one of the most common malign tumour all over the world, and it accounts for about 25% of all cancer in women. This study was conducted to fi nd out the level of breast cancer risk of the women who work in Mugla University. Materials and Methods: The women who work in Mugla University in 2008 constitute the universe of this descriptive study (N=512). The sampling methot was not used here, instead 324 volunteer or avialable women were covered (rate of participation: 63.2%). The data were collected through “Individual Properties Form” and “Breast Cancer Risk Assesment Scala”. The data were evaluated by SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) 11.0 programme using descriptive analysis. Oral permission from the participants and the offi cal permission from the institution was obtained. Results: The average age of the women covered in the study was 34.39 ± 6.46 (min-maks:21-50), 52% (n=169) of whom were offi ce staff and 47.8% (n=155) worked as academicians and 67% were married. The average value of the total breast cancer risk is 113 ± 45.79. Of the subjects, 96.3% (n=312) were found to be at low risk, 3,1% (n=10) at moderate risk, 0,3% (n=1) at high risk and 0,3% (n=1) at extremely high risk of breast cancer. Discussion: It is possible to say that 3,7% (n=12) of the women included in the study are at risk of breast cancer. It is recommended that the risk groups should be observed and all the women should develop healthy lifestyle behaviours.

Çalişan kadinlarda meme kanseri̇ ri̇sk düzeyi̇

Bu arastirma, hemsirelik 1. ve 4. sinif ogrencilerinin yasli ayrimciligina iliskin tutumlarinin incelenmesi amaciyla yapilmistir. Tanimlayici tipte tasarlanan bu calisma Kasim 2015-Mart 2016 tarihlerinde Mugla Sitki Kocman Universitesi’nde, 233 ogrencinin katilimi ile gerceklestirilmistir. Veriler sosyo-demografik form ve Yasli Ayrimciligi Tutum Olcegi (YATO) ile sinif ortaminda toplanmistir. Vefikulucay (2008) tarafindan gelistirilen YATO, yaslinin yasamini sinirlama (9 madde), yasliya yonelik olumlu ayrimcilik (8 madde) ve yasliya yonelik olumsuz ayrimcilik (6 madde) olmak uzere uc alt boyutu olan besli likert tipi bir olcektir. Olcekten alinan toplam puan ortalamasinin yuksek olmasi, yasli ayrimciligina iliskin tutumun olumlu oldugunu gosterir. Arastirma oncesinde ilgili kurumdan, etik kuruldan ve ogrencilerden izin alinmistir. Arastirmaya katilan ogrencilerin yas ortalamasinin 20.16±2.09 (min:17, max:28) oldugu, % 75.5’inin kadin, % 56.2’sinin birinci sinif ve %45.5’inin simdiye kadar yasli ile birlikte yasadigi belirlenmistir. YATO toplam puan ortalamasi 69.51±7.13, yaslinin yasamini sinirlama 19.90±4.00, yasliya yonelik olumlu ayrimcilik 31.05±4.65 ve yasliya yonelik olumsuz ayrimcilik 18.55± 3.59 olarak saptanmistir. Calismada birinci siniflar ile dorduncu siniflarin toplam olcek puan ortalamasi farki istatistiksel olarak anlamli bulunmustur (p 0.05). Arastirmaya katilan ogrencilerin yasli ayrimciligina iliskin orta duzeyde olumlu tutuma sahip olduklari sonucuna varilmistir. Hemsirelik egitimi surecinde konuyla ilgili farkindaligin artirilmasinin yasli sagligina, dolayisiyla toplum sagligina katki saglayacagi dusunulmektedir.
