Steganography is the technique for exchanging concealed secret information in a way to avoid suspicion. The aim of Steganography is to transfer secrete message to another party by hiding the data in a cover object, so that the imposter who monitors the traffic should not distinguish between genuine secret message and the cover object. This paper presents the comparative study and performance analysis of different image Steganography methods using various types of cover media ((like BMP/JPEG/PNG etc.) with the discussion of their file formats. We also discuss the embedding domains along with a discussion on salient technical properties, applications, limitations, and Steganalysis.

A Comparative Study of Recent Steganography Techniques for Multiple Image Formats

This paper presents an image Steganography algorithm that can work for cover images of multiple formats. Having a single algorithm for multiple image types provides several advantages. For example, we can apply uniform security policies across all image formats, we can adaptively select the most suitable cover image based on data length, network bandwidth and allowable distortions, etc. We present our algorithm based on the abstract concept of image components that can be adapted for JPEG, Bitmap, TIFF and PNG cover images. To the best of our knowledge, the proposed algorithm is the first Steganography algorithm that can work for multiple cover image formats. In addition, we have utilized concepts like capacity pre-estimation, adaptive partition schemes and data spreading to embed secret data with enhanced security. The proposed method is tested for robustness against Steganalysis with favorable results. Moreover, comparative results for the proposed algorithm are very promising for three different cover image formats.

A Multiple-Format Steganography Algorithm for Color Images

Recently, the mode of living became more complicated without computer systems. The techniques of camouflage information have acquired a vital role with the requirement of intensifying trade of multimedia content. Steganography is the technique that utilizes disguise in a way that prohibits unauthorized access from suspicion of the existence of confidential information exchanged during communication channels between the connected parties. In this paper, an integrated image steganographic system is designed to conceal images, messages or together where the mainly deliberate the improvement of embedding capacity through embedding text with image simultaneously. For that purpose, used matrix partition to partition the secret image then embedded each partition separately after scrambling each pixel by replacing msb instead of lsb to provide the second level of security furthermore to steganography. The simulation results clarify the better performance of the proposed algorithms.

Dual Security Using Image Steganography Based Matrix Partition

The rapid increase in Internet speed led to people exchanging a huge amount of information every moment, including sensitive and private information. Hence, confidentiality and privacy are a big concern. Image steganography is a tool used to ensure that sensitive information is securely shared by concealing it in a cover image. Many techniques have been proposed to protect the information, such as the Least Significant Bit (LSB), Pixel Value Differencing (PVD), Pixel Indicator Techniques (PIT), etc. This paper presents a new PIT -based technique for RGB images to enhance the requirement ofimperceptibility and security. This technique uses the LSB of the green channel as an indicator to hide and encode the secret information in the red and blue channels. The technique is developed in three versions wherein two LSBs, two to four LSBs, or four LSBs of the red and blue channels are utilised to encode up to six bits of the secret information. The experimental results of the proposed method are obtained using MATLAB 2022a. The experimental results showed promising results against standard images with higher Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) values and Mean Square Error (MSE).

Steganography is the process of hiding secret message into a cover medium to conceal the existence of the message. The redundant nature of image pixels make them suitable medium to hide secret information. In this paper, a new improved technique that uses pixel indicator method to hide secret data bits in most significant bits (MSBs) of the cover image is proposed. Moreover, a central portion of image is selected to hide secret message for more security. Here, red channel is used as an indicator to hide secret message in 5 th and 6 th bits of either green channel or blue channel of RGB image. If the number of 1’s in red channel are even, green channel is used for embedding otherwise blue channel is used. The experimental results obtained by implementation of the proposed algorithm in MATLAB showed that the stego-images images are of high quality having high PSNR values. It provides better security and imperceptibility.

A Secure Steganography Technique Using MSB

In this paper frequency selective surface (FSS) and defected ground structure (DGS) is used in Multiple input and multiple output (MIMO) Microstrip patch antenna for gain and isolation enhancement for WLAN applications. The FSS structure is used to enhance the isolation from -16dB to -24 dB by utilising its filtering characteristics. The edge-to-edge distance between the antenna element is taken as 0.14 $\boldsymbol{\lambda}_{\mathbf{o}}$. The gain is improved by 32% and isolation by 50% by using a simple DGS structure. The material used in the design is low-cost FR-4 with dimension $\mathbf{40}\times \mathbf{35}\times\mathbf{1.6}\mathbf{mm}^{\mathbf{3}}$. The diversity parameters of the designed MIMO like ECC and DG are calculated as <.0001 and >9.99 which proves the design to be the better candidate for WLAN applications.
