TL;DR: In this paper, the role of activist investors in the market for corporate con- trol is studied and it is shown that activists have higher credibility than bidders when campaigning against entrenched incumbents, and hence are more eective in relaxing their resistance to takeovers.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examine the role of delegated portfolio managers and conclude that passive fund growth improves governance only if it does not increase fund investors' returns too much, whereas in the latter case it can be detrimental to governance.
