The measurement of particle rebound characteristics

TL;DR: In this article, the rebound behavior of 5 mm aluminium oxide spheres impacting a soda-lime glass anvil and an aluminium alloy anvil was measured with a strobe and single-frame digital camera, for a range of impact angles from normal to very near glancing.
Journal ArticleDOI

An experimental study of the elastic rebound of spheres

TL;DR: In this paper, the impact and rebound behavior of 5-mm aluminium oxide spheres impacting a soda-lime glass anvil was investigated for impact angles from normal to very near glancing incidence, and the results showed very close agreement with the numerical work of Maw et al. which takes into account the effects of sticking, microslip and tangential compliance.
Journal ArticleDOI

Accurate measurement of particle impact parameters

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe an experimental facility to measure the low velocity impact behavior of spherical particles with high accuracy, and the results are accurate enough to be used for quantitative comparison to theoretical studies.
Journal ArticleDOI

A distributed optical-fibre sensing system for multi-point humidity measurement

TL;DR: In this article, a multi-point distributed humidity-sensing system was constructed based on the principle of using the absorption spectrum of a colorimetric reagent (cobalt chloride) immobilized on the surface of the core of a multimode optical fiber by employing a thin gelatin film.
Journal ArticleDOI

A study of the restitution coefficient in elastic-plastic impact

TL;DR: In this article, the authors provide useful quantitative support for theories of the restitution coefficient for normal impacts involving plastic deformation, especially in the region close to the threshold at which the deformation begins.
