A review of the structural chemistry and physical properties of metal chalcogenide halides

Two novel metal–organic frameworks, formulated as [Mn(CIP−)2] (1) and [Ag(CIP−)] (2) (HCIP = 4-(4-carboxylphenyl)-2,6-di(4-imidazol-1-yl)phenyl)pyridine), were solvothermally synthesized based on a pyridyl-imidazole-carboxyl multifunctional ligand. The single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis shows that complex 1 is a 3D microporous framework with uncoordinated imidazole groups, and complex 2 is a 2D + 2D → 2D 3-fold parallel interpenetrated network. Complex 1 exhibited excellent CO2 selective absorption over N2 and CH4. IAST calculations revealed that the selectivities of 1 for the CO2/CH4 (50 : 50) and CO2/N2 (15 : 85) mixtures were 8.0 and 117 at 273 K under 1 bar, respectively. Moreover, the luminescence investigations displayed that complex 2 is an excellent MOF-based multiresponsive fluorescent probe for Fe3+, CrO42−/Cr2O72− and the pesticide 2,6-Dich-4-nitroaniline, with high selectivity and sensitivity. Notably, complex 2 exhibited a highly sensitive sensing ability (5.2 × 104 M−1) and a low detection limit (1.7 × 10−7 M) for 2,6-Dich-4-nitroaniline. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first Ag-MOF-based fluorescent sensor that can simultaneously detect metal ions, inorganic anions and pesticides.

A crystalline three-dimensional (3D) quaternary chalcohalide, Hg7InS6Cl5 (1), has been synthesized through a solid-state reaction under medium temperature. It is the first example in the family of the Hg–IIIA–Q–X (Q = S, Se, Te; X = F, Cl, Br, I) systems. Compound 1 features a 3D network and has an optical band gap of 2.54 eV.

Synthesis, crystal structure, and optical properties of a three-dimensional quaternary Hg-In-S-Cl chalcohalide: Hg7InS6Cl5.

Three quaternary mercury bismuth chalcohalides, Hg3Q2Bi2Cl8 (Q = S, Se, Te), are reported along with their syntheses, crystal structures, electronic band structures, and optical properties. The compounds are structurally similar with a layer comprised of a hole perforated sheet network of [Hg3Q2](2+) (Q = S and Te) that forms by fused cyclohexane, chairlike Hg6Q6 rings. The cationic charge in the network is balanced by edge-sharing monocapped trigonal-prismatic anions of [Bi2Cl8](2-) that form a two-dimensional network located between layers. Compound 1, Hg3S2Bi2Cl8, crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C12/m1 with a = 12.9381(9) A, b = 7.3828(6) A, c = 9.2606(6) A, and β = 116.641(5)°. Compound 2, Hg3Te2Bi2Cl8, crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C12/c1 with a = 17.483(4) A, b = 7.684(2) A, c = 13.415(3) A, and β = 104.72(3)°. The crystals of the Hg3Se2Bi2Cl8 analogue exhibit complex modulations and structural disorder, which complicated its structural refinement. Compounds 1 and 2 melt incongruently and show band gaps of 3.26 and 2.80 eV, respectively, which are in a good agreement with those from band-structure density functional theory calculations.

A novel quaternary mercury and cadmium chalcogenidehalide, (Hg2Cd2S2Br)Br (1), has been prepared by solid-state reaction and structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The structure of 1 is composed of parallel slabs stacking with -ABAB- mode via linearly coordinated Hg atoms to form a 3D cationic network with the channels being occupied by discrete Br anions, in which the slab consists of interlinks of linear (HgS2Br2) tetrahedral chains and (CdS2Br) trigonal chains. The optical properties were investigated in terms of the diffuse reflectance and Fourier transform infrared spectra. The electronic band structure along with density of states (DOS) calculated by DFT method indicates that the present compound is a semiconductor with an indirect band gap, and that the optical absorption is mainly originated from the charge transitions from Br-4p and S-3p to Cd-5s and Hg-6s states.

Synthesis, crystal and band structures, and optical properties of a novel quaternary mercury and cadmium chalcogenidehalide: (Hg2Cd2S2Br)Br

The invention discloses a metallic copper chelidamic acid coordination polymer and a preparation method thereof. The metallic copper chelidamic acid coordination polymer is characterized in that the chemical formula is [Cu3(C7H2NO5)2]n.3nH2O, the polymer belongs to an orthorhombic crystal system, the space group is Pnna, and the unit cell parameters comprise that alpha is 89 to 91, beta is 89 to 91, gamma is 89 to 91 and Z is 4. The metallic copper chelidamic acid coordination polymer has the advantages that: 1, the polymer has good three-order nonlinear optical property, and the three-order refraction index and the three-order polarization rate are 3.60*10 esu and 0.99*10 esu respectively; 2, the polymer has good fluorescent characteristics, greater fluorescence intensity and wider peak ratio; 3, different from low thermal decomposition temperature of most coordination compounds, the synthesized compound has good thermal stability, and the thermal decomposition temperature of the compound is 185 DEG C; and 4, the synthetic method is characterized by simplicity, easy operation, sufficient raw material source, low production cost, higher yield of compound synthesis, high purity and good repeatability, and meets the requirement of magnified production.

Metallic copper chelidamic acid coordination polymer and preparation method thereof

Single crystals of the title compound are prepared by solid state reaction of Hg2Br2, elemental In, and As (400 °C, 120 h).
