Journal ArticleDOI
Genotype x environment interaction and genetic gain for grain yield and grain quality traits in Turkish spring wheat released between 1964 and 2010.
Ajit Nehe,Beyhan Akin,Turgay Şanal,Asuman Kaplan Evlice,Rıza Ünsal,Nazım Dinçer,Lütfü Demir,Hatice Geren,İsmail Sevim,Şinasi Orhan,Şadiye Yaktubay,Ali Alparslan Ezici,Carlos Guzmán,Alexey Morgounov +13 more
TL;DR: Three breeding programs have successfully increased the grain yield and quality traits for 46 years and recommend Ziyabey-98, Menemen, and Basribey-95, for stable grain yield in spring wheat production across the studied regions because of their wide adaptability, and Pamukova-97 for future breeding to improve grain quality parameters.
Journal ArticleDOI
Yield and Quality in Purple-Grained Wheat Isogenic Lines
Alexey Morgounov,Alexey Morgounov,Yaşar Karaduman,Beyhan Akin,Sinan Aydogan,P. S. Baenziger,Madhav Bhatta,Vladimir Chudinov,Susanne Dreisigacker,Velu Govindan,Safure Güler,Carlos Guzmán,Ajit Nehe,Rachana Poudel,Devin J. Rose,E. I. Gordeeva,Vladimir Shamanin,Kemal Subasi,Yuriy Zelenskiy,Elena K. Khlestkina +19 more
TL;DR: Comparison of two sources of Pp genes demonstrated that the lines originating from cv.
Journal ArticleDOI
Root and canopy traits and adaptability genes explain drought tolerance responses in winter wheat.
Ajit Nehe,M.J. Foulkes,Ibrahim Ozturk,Awais Rasheed,Larry M. York,Shawn C. Kefauver,Fatih Özdemir,Alexey Morgounov +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, high-throughput phenotyping was done for wheat crown root traits and canopy senescence dynamics using vegetation indices (green area using RGB images and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index using spectral reflectance).
Journal ArticleDOI
Diversity and Adaptation of Currently Grown Wheat Landraces and Modern Germplasm in Afghanistan, Iran, and Turkey
Alexey Morgounov,Fatih Özdemir,Mesut Keser,Beyhan Akin,Abdelfattah A. Dababat,Susanne Dreisigacker,Saber Golkari,Emrah Koc,Murat Küçükçongar,Hafiz Muminjanov,Ajit Nehe,Awais Rasheed,Mozaffar Roostaei,Deepmala Sehgal,Rajiv K. Sharma +14 more
TL;DR: Three groups of landraces demonstrated similar average grain yield, though Afghanistan material was slightly higher yielding not only in Afghanistan but also in Turkey, and the highest yielding landrace were competitive with the best modern germplasm.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of high-yielding wheat genotypes resistant to Pyrenophora tritici-repentis (tan spot)
Alma Kokhmetova,Madina Kumarbayeva,Makpal Atishova,Ajit Nehe,Ian T. Riley,Alexey Morgounov,Alexey Morgounov +6 more
TL;DR: Of the 103 winter wheat genotypes evaluated, 28 can be directly used in breeding programs to improve tan spot resistance and productivity of winter wheat, and all spike productivity traits were highly correlated.
