TL;DR: In this article, the current doubling behavior of alcohols was studied on an n-type ZnO polycrystalline electrode and it was found that the photocurrent was almost doubled in alkaline solution.
Abstract: The current doubling behavior of alcohols was studied on an n-type ZnO polycrystalline electrode. The increase in photocurrent due to alcohols on the ZnO depended on pH of the solution. The photocurrent was almost doubled in alkaline solution. It was found that the ZnO photoanode dissolved in the neutral aqueous solution but the dissolution reaction of ZnO was completely suppressed in alkaline solution at a sufficiently large pH. From the experimental results obtained by the rotating ring disk electrode and gas chromatographic and mass spectrometric analyses, a mechanism of the current-doubling reaction is proposed.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used a photocatalyst activated in accordance with light energy in a method for removing harmful substances contained in the waste matter in order to purify waste matter economically and easily.
Abstract: PURPOSE: To purify waste matter economically and easily by using a photocatalyst activated in accordance with light energy in a method for removing harmful substances contained in the waste matter. CONSTITUTION: The waste samples introduced from a sample inlet 51 are introduced to a reactor 31 via a circulator 52. The reactor consists of light permeable material and a photocatalyst 41 is set at the bottom part. A semiconductor such as TiO 2 and ZnO and a molecular photocatalyst such as porphyrin are used as the photocatalyst. The waste introduced in the reactor is photodecomposed with the light which is emitted from a light source 61 and introduced through a lens 71 and removed and the purified substances are discharged from a sample outlet 53. TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the spectral sensitization process by measuring the fluorescence intensities and the photocurrents caused by rhodamine B esterically bound with the surface species of SnO2.
Abstract: Spectral sensitization process was examined by measuring the fluorescence intensities and the photocurrents caused by rhodamine B esterically bound with the surface species of SnO2. It was found that about 20% of its fluorescence intensity were reduced by the Sn02 substrate, and this value was well coincident with the maximum quantum efficiency of the sensitized photocurrent. From the results the charge transfer mechanism of supersensitization is discussed.
