Journal ArticleDOI
Effectiveness of home respiratory polygraphy for the diagnosis of sleep apnoea and hypopnoea syndrome
Juan F. Masa,Jaime Corral,Ricardo Mendes Pereira,Joaquín Durán-Cantolla,Marta Cabello,Luis Hernández-Blasco,Carmen Monasterio,Alberto Alonso,Eusebi Chiner,Manuela Rubio,Garcia-Ledesma E,Laura Cacelo,Rosario Carpizo,Lirios Sacristan,Neus Salord,Miguel Carrera,José N. Sancho-Chust,Cristina Embid,Francisco-José Vázquez-Polo,Miguel Ángel Negrín,Jose M. Montserrat +20 more
TL;DR: Home respiratory polygraphy is an alternative to polysomnography in patients with suspected SAHS andTelematic procedures may help patients with limited mobility and those who live a long way from the sleep centre.
Journal ArticleDOI
Therapeutic decision-making for sleep apnea and hypopnea syndrome using home respiratory polygraphy: a large multicentric study.
Juan F. Masa,Jaime Corral,Ricardo Mendes Pereira,Joaquín Durán-Cantolla,Marta Cabello,Luis Hernández-Blasco,Carmen Monasterio,Alberto Alonso,Eusebi Chiner,José Luis Zamorano,Felipe Aizpuru,Jose M. Montserrat +11 more
TL;DR: The HRP-based therapeutic decision was adequate when AHI was high, but deficient in the large population of patients with mild to moderate AHI, suggesting both selecting patients with a high suspicion and severity of SAHS and future prospective cost-effectiveness studies are necessary.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effectiveness of three sleep apnea management alternatives.
Juan F. Masa,Jaime Corral,Sanchez de Cos J,Joaquín Durán-Cantolla,Marta Cabello,Luis Hernández-Blasco,Carmen Monasterio,Alberto Alonso,Eusebi Chiner,Aizpuru F,Francisco J. Vázquez-Polo,José Luis Zamorano,Jose M. Montserrat,Garcia-Ledesma E,Ricardo Mendes Pereira,L. Cancelo,Martinez A,Lirios Sacristan,Neus Salord,Miguel Carrera,José N. Sancho-Chust,Miguel Ángel Negrín,Cristina Embid +22 more
TL;DR: Home respiratory polygraphy is a less costly alternative than polysomnography for the diagnosis and therapeutic decision making for patients with suspected obstructive sleep apnea.
Journal ArticleDOI
Significance of Including a Surrogate Arousal for Sleep Apnea-Hypopnea Syndrome Diagnosis by Respiratory Polygraphy
Juan F. Masa,Jaime Corral,Gomez de Terreros J,Joaquín Durán-Cantolla,Marta Cabello,Luis Hernández-Blasco,Carmen Monasterio,Alberto Alonso,Eusebi Chiner,Felipe Aizpuru,José Luis Zamorano,R. Cano,Jose M. Montserrat,Garcia-Ledesma E,Ricardo Mendes Pereira,Laura Cancelo,Martinez A,Lirios Sacristan,Neus Salord,Miguel Carrera,José N. Sancho-Chust,Cristina Embid +21 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors performed a multicentric, randomized, blinded crossover study to determine the agreement between home respiratory polygraphy (HRP) and polysomnography (PSG) by means of two AHI scoring protocols with or without hyperventilation following flow reduction considered as a surrogate arousal.
