Journal ArticleDOI
Application of NDT thermographic imaging of aerospace structures
Shakeb Deane,Nicolas P. Avdelidis,Nicolas P. Avdelidis,Clemente Ibarra-Castanedo,Hai Zhang,Hai Zhang,Hamed Yazdani Nezhad,Alex Williamson,Tim Mackley,Maxwell J. Davis,Xavier Maldague,Antonios Tsourdos +11 more
TL;DR: Static NDT results and the further UAV research indicate that the UAV inspection approach could significantly reduce the inspection time, cost, and workload, whilst potentially increasing the probability of detection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of Cooled and Uncooled IR Sensors by Means of Signal-to-Noise Ratio for NDT Diagnostics of Aerospace Grade Composites.
Shakeb Deane,Nicolas P. Avdelidis,Nicolas P. Avdelidis,Clemente Ibarra-Castanedo,Hai Zhang,Hamed Yazdani Nezhad,Alex Williamson,Tim Mackley,Xavier Maldague,Antonios Tsourdos,Parham Nooralishahi +10 more
TL;DR: The work successfully compares both types of cameras using seven different SNR definitions, to understand if a lower-resolution uncooled IR camera can achieve an acceptable NDT standard.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development of a thermal excitation source used in an active thermographic UAV platform
Shakeb Deane,Nicolas P. Avdelidis,Clemente Ibarra-Castanedo,Alex Williamson,Stephen Withers,Argyrios C. Zolotas,Xavier Maldague,Mohammad Ahmadi,Shashank Pant,Marc Genest,Hobivola A. Rabearivelo,Antonios Tsourdos +11 more
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Cognitive Communication Scheme for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Operation
TL;DR: The proposed ACCS is suitable for supporting UAV operations and features a distributed non-communication architecture consisting of GCS network in the ground zone, hybrid data link with the static uplink and the flexible downlink, demonstrating a dynamic nature overall with the frequency handoff scheme generated periodically in accordance with current spectrum environment.
