Journal ArticleDOI
Investigation of a COVID-19 outbreak in Germany resulting from a single travel-associated primary case: a case series.
Merle M Böhmer,Udo Buchholz,Victor M. Corman,Martin Hoch,Katharina Katz,Durdica Marosevic,Stefanie Böhm,Tom Woudenberg,Nikolaus Ackermann,Regina Konrad,Ute Eberle,Bianca Treis,Alexandra Dangel,Katja Bengs,Volker Fingerle,Anja Berger,Stefan Hörmansdorfer,Siegfried Ippisch,Bernd Wicklein,Andreas Grahl,Kirsten Pörtner,Nadine Muller,Nadine Zeitlmann,T. Sonia Boender,Wei Cai,Andreas Reich,Maria an der Heiden,Ute Rexroth,Osamah Hamouda,Julia Schneider,Talitha Veith,Barbara Mühlemann,Roman Wölfel,Roman Wölfel,Markus Antwerpen,Markus Antwerpen,Mathias C. Walter,Mathias C. Walter,Ulrike Protzer,Ulrike Protzer,Bernhard Liebl,Walter Haas,Andreas Sing,Christian Drosten,Andreas Zapf +44 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that although the outbreak was controlled, successful long-term and global containment of COVID-19 could be difficult to achieve.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rapid establishment of laboratory diagnostics for the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 in Bavaria, Germany, February 2020.
Regina Konrad,Ute Eberle,Alexandra Dangel,Bianca Treis,Anja Berger,Katja Bengs,Volker Fingerle,Bernhard Liebl,Nikolaus Ackermann,Andreas Sing +9 more
TL;DR: It was found that assay performance using the same primers and probes with different PCR systems varied and the commercial kit performed well, compared with previously published real-time RT-PCR assays in different PCR Systems and a commercial kit.
Journal ArticleDOI
The genus Borrelia reloaded.
Gabriele Margos,Alexander W. Gofton,Daniel Wibberg,Alexandra Dangel,Durdica Marosevic,Siew-May Loh,Charlotte L. Oskam,Volker Fingerle +7 more
TL;DR: An analysis based on a method suitable for bacterial genus demarcation, the percentage of conserved proteins (POCP) convincingly showed that all groups of spirochetes belong into one genus and it is proposed to emend, and re-unite all groups in, the genus Borrelia.
Journal ArticleDOI
NGS-based phylogeny of diphtheria-related pathogenicity factors in different Corynebacterium spp. implies species-specific virulence transmission
TL;DR: Differences in extracted DT, DtxR and tox-surrounding genetic elements imply the existence of different genetic backgrounds of DT-mediated pathogenicity in different Corynebacterium species and evolution of once acquiredpathogenicity features with the strains.
Journal ArticleDOI
De-Novo Design of Antimicrobial Peptides for Plant Protection
Benjamin Zeitler,Areli Herrera Diaz,Alexandra Dangel,Martha Thellmann,Helge Meyer,Michael Sattler,Christian Lindermayr +6 more
TL;DR: The designed peptides represent new antimicrobial agents and with the increasing demand for antimicrobial compounds for production of “healthy” food, these peptides might serve as templates for novel antibacterial and antifungal agents.
