Staphylococcus aureus virulence factors in evasion from innate immune defenses in human and animal diseases

TL;DR: This review focused on S. aureus virulence factors involved in the immune evasion in the first phases of infection: TLR recognition avoidance, adhesins affecting immune response and resistance to host defenses peptides and polypeptides.
Journal ArticleDOI

Role of several Staphylococcus aureus virulence factors on the inflammatory response in bovine mammary gland.

TL;DR: Analysis of the association between virulence genes and the presence of a subclinical mastitis showed the role of spa and sej gene as risk factors, which support that the development of subclinicalmastitis could be related to strains characteristics and to the expression of specific combinations of the virulence factors.

Evaluation of the electrical conductivity of milk as a mastitis indicator

TL;DR: In this paper, a meta-analysis of available published data was performed to assess the validity of electrical conductivity measurements for the diagnosis of subclinical and clinical mastitis cases, and it was found that electrical conductivities in milk does not identify mastitis quarters or cows with sufficient accuracy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Strategies for reduced antibiotic usage in dairy cattle farms.

TL;DR: A substantial reduction of antibiotic usage in dairy farms can be achieved through the proper use of immunomodulators, aimed at increasing immunocompetence and disease resistance of cows.
