Abstract: In their recent commentary “CDC4/FBXW7 and the ‘just enough’ model of tumourigenesis” [1], Davis and Tomlinson analysed the mutation spectrum of FBXW7 mutations found in COSMIC (http://www.sanger.ac. uk/cosmic) to test if FBXW7 conforms to the ‘continuum model’ of tumourigenesis which we proposed [2]. Such an examination is critical to the refinement of our model and we do not have specific issues with their analysis. However, there were a number of factual errors in their characterization of our paper that we feel warrant clarification, especially since the continuum model was the foundation of their study.
