Journal ArticleDOI
Validity of a Two-variable Nutritional Index for Use in Selecting Candidates for Nutritional Support
TL;DR: The relationship of baseline nutritional test values to clinical outcome was prospectively studied in 55 consecutive surgical and critically ill patients referred for nutritional support and showed that a value of serum albumin less than 3.0 grams per deciliter had the best predictive accuracy for outcome.
Journal ArticleDOI
Linear regression analysis with repeated measurements.
TL;DR: The statistical aspects of repeated measures linear regression, in which each subject contributes several pairs of measurements to the analysis, are discussed and it is shown that the standard error of a regression coefficient computed from the ordinary least squares analysis can either underestimate or overestimate the true standard error.
Journal ArticleDOI
Determinants of the training response in elderly men.
TL;DR: VO2max T1, speed of walking or running during training, reason for stopping the treadmill test, and skinfold thickness were significantly related to post-training VO2max, which explained over 10% of the variance in the training effect.
Journal ArticleDOI
What is the role and authority of gatekeepers in cluster randomized trials in health research
Antonio Gallo,Charles Weijer,Angela White,Jeremy M. Grimshaw,Jeremy M. Grimshaw,Jeremy M. Grimshaw,Robert F. Boruch,Jamie C. Brehaut,Jamie C. Brehaut,Allan Donner,Allan Donner,Martin P Eccles,Andrew D McRae,Andrew D McRae,Raphael Saginur,Merrick Zwarenstein,Monica Taljaard,Monica Taljaard,Monica Taljaard +18 more
TL;DR: The role of gatekeepers in protecting individual interests in CRTs should be limited, and it is suggested that consent to randomization is not required when cluster members are approached for consent at the earliest opportunity and before any study interventions or data-collection procedures have started.
Journal ArticleDOI
Factors Affecting the Comparability of Meta-Analyses and Largest Trials Results in Perinatology
TL;DR: Strong evidence is found that factors influencing asymmetrical funnel plots of MA, such as publication bias, may play an important role in this degree of similarity and it is recommended that funnel plots be used as a tool for identifying which MAs can mislead.
