Journal ArticleDOI
Wireless strain measurement using circular microstrip patch antennas
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the effect of the conductivity of the host structure on the wireless monitoring efficiency and showed that strain can be measured wirelessly in any desired direction using a linearly polarised horn antenna, up to a distance of 5 cm.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effect of ply orientation on the performance of antennas in or on carbon fiber composites
TL;DR: In this paper, the conductivity of a quasi-isotropic IM7/977-3 CFRP laminate is measured using waveguide techniques and the results show that orientation of the surface ply relative to the polarization of the incident E-fleld has a major impact on the re-ectivity.
Journal Article
The strong diamagnetic characteristics of unidirectional carbon fiber reinforced polymer laminates
Journal ArticleDOI
Utilising microstrip patch antenna strain sensors for structural health monitoring
TL;DR: In this article, the feasibility of using a circular microstrip patch antenna to measure strain and the effects of different materials on sensitivity of the patch antenna are investigated, and the effect of different material types on the antenna is investigated.
Proceedings Article
Circular microstrip patch antenna strain sensor for wireless structural health monitoring
TL;DR: In this paper, the feasibility of using a circular microstrip patch antenna to detect strain has been investigated and the theoretical model shows a linear relationship between strain and the shift in the resonant frequency of the antenna.
