Journal ArticleDOI
A critical time window for recovery extends beyond one-year post-stroke.
Belén Rubio Ballester,Martina Maier,Armin Duff,Mónica S. Cameirão,Sergi Bermúdez,Esther Duarte,Ampar Cuxart,Susana Rodriguez,Rosa María San Segundo Mozo,Paul F. M. J. Verschure +9 more
TL;DR: The temporal structure of recovery in patients with hemiparesis is analyzed and a precise gradient of enhanced sensitivity to treatment that expands far beyond the limits of the so-called critical window is uncovered.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cognitive changes after cerebrospinal fluid shunting in young adults with spina bifida and assumed arrested hydrocephalus
M Mataró,Maria A. Poca,Juan Sahuquillo,Ampar Cuxart,J Iborra,M.D. de la Calzada,Carme Junqué +6 more
TL;DR: Young adults with spina bifida and suspected non-functioning shunt or non-shunted ventriculomegaly should be carefully monitored to identify those who could benefit from shunting.
Journal ArticleDOI
Erratum to: The visual amplification of goal-oriented movements counteracts acquired non-use in hemiparetic stroke patients.
Belén Rubio Ballester,Jens Nirme,Esther Duarte,Ampar Cuxart,Susana Rodriguez,Paul F. M. J. Verschure,Armin Duff +6 more
TL;DR: The findings indicate that reinforcement-based therapies may be an effective approach for counteracting learned non-use and may modulate motor performance in the real world.
Journal ArticleDOI
Does the lower instrumented vertebra have an effect on lumbar mobility, subjective perception of trunk flexibility, and quality of life in patients with idiopathic scoliosis treated by spinal fusion?
TL;DR: LIV correlated moderately with lumbar mobility, health-related quality of life, and spinal pain (SRS-22 pain subscale), but not with intensity of pain in the lumbare area or perceived TF.
Journal Article
Factors associated with mortality and gait impairment in elderly patients with hip fractures
TL;DR: Mortality in the immediate postoperative period is associated with sex, dementia and previous personal independence, and the hospital stay is extended and functional recovery at discharge is low, therefore, new programs for these patients should be considered.
