Journal ArticleDOI

Geographic Differentiation of Colombian Neoleucinodes elegantalis (Lepidoptera: Crambidae) Haplotypes: Evidence for Solanaceae Host Plant Association and Holdridge Life Zones for Genetic Differentiation

TL;DR: Examination of the population structure of Neoleucinodes elegantalis indicates that integrated pest management strategies used to control this species should consider the genetic differentiation of the species at different locations in Colombia.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evidence of Sexual Selection in Neoleucinodes elegantalis (Lepidoptera: Crambidae): Correlation of Female Moth Genitalia and Solanaceae Host Fruit Size

TL;DR: It is found that variation in female genitalia size is directly correlated with the size of its host fruit, which suggests a mechanism for reproductive isolation and divergence of the four host races.
Journal ArticleDOI

Variation in the capture of Neoleucinodes elegantalis Guenée (Lepidoptera: Crambidae) males using commercial sex pheromones on three solanaceous hosts

TL;DR: Guenee et al. as mentioned in this paper reported that the number of males captured in Colombia and Ecuador were registered using traps baited with two sex pheromone: Neolegantol® and P228.
Journal ArticleDOI

Reproductive incompatibility and fitness components in Neoleucinodes elegantalis races (Lepidoptera, Crambidae) from three Solanaceae hosts

TL;DR: It is suggested that the use of their host plants in sympatry might reduce N. elegantalis densities in the field since hybrids between its races have low survival rates and the possibility of pheromone composition differentiation among races given the results on assortative mating obtained here.
Journal ArticleDOI

Variación en la captura de machos de Neoleucinodes elegantalis Guenée (Lepidoptera: Crambidae) usando feromonas sexuales comerciales en tres hospederos solanáceos

TL;DR: Results suggest that pheromone composition or concentration, host biotypes and geographic location are relevant to monitor populations of N. elegantalis and further studies of the species should concentrate on establishing the pherumone composition and concentration among the four biotypes.
