Prehistoric contacts over the Straits of Gibraltar indicated by genetic analysis of Iberian Bronze Age cattle

TL;DR: mtDNA of Bronze Age cattle from the Portalón cave at the Atapuerca site in northern Spain showed the haplotype T1, of African origin, which indicates prehistoric African-Iberian contacts and lends support to archaeological finds linking early African and Iberian cultures.

Human remains from Valdegoba Cave (Huérmeces, Burgos, Spain).

TL;DR: Systematic excavations at the Valdegoba cave site in northern Spain have yielded the remains of five individuals associated with a Middle Paleolithic stone tool technology and Pleistocene fauna, showing a combination of archaic characteristics as well as more specific Neandertal morphological traits.
