Journal ArticleDOI
Antiplasmodial alkaloids from bulbs of Amaryllis belladonna Steud.
Namki Cho,Yongle Du,Ana Lisa Valenciano,Maria L. Fernández-Murga,Michael Goetz,Jason A. Clement,Maria B. Cassera,David G. I. Kingston +7 more
TL;DR: A bioassay-guided fractionation and chemical investigation of Amaryllis belladonna Steud resulted in the isolation and identification of the new crinane alkaloid 1,4-dihydroxy-3-methoxy powellan and the structures were elucidated by interpretation of combined HR-ESIMS, CD and 2D NMR spectroscopic data.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phloroglucinols from the Roots of Garcinia dauphinensis and Their Antiproliferative and Antiplasmodial Activities.
Rolly G. Fuentes,Rolly G. Fuentes,Kirk C. Pearce,Yongle Du,Andriamalala Rakotondrafara,Ana Lisa Valenciano,Maria B. Cassera,Vincent E. Rasamison,T. Daniel Crawford,David G. I. Kingston +9 more
TL;DR: Among the compounds tested, 1 showed the most promising growth inhibitory activity against A2870 ovarian cancer cells, and 2 had good antiplasmodial activity against the Dd2 drug-resistant strain of Plasmodium falciparum.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antiplasmodial Chromanes and Chromenes from the Monotypic Plant Species Koeberlinia spinosa
Christopher C. Presley,Ana Lisa Valenciano,Maria L. Fernández-Murga,Yongle Du,Narasimhamurthy Shanaiah,Maria B. Cassera,Michael Goetz,Jason A. Clement,David G. I. Kingston +8 more
TL;DR: Nine new compounds containing either a chromane or chromene ring moiety were isolated from the monotypic plant Koeberlinia spinosa and characterized as new chromenes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Metabolomics profiling reveals new aspects of dolichol biosynthesis in Plasmodium falciparum.
Flavia M. Zimbres,Ana Lisa Valenciano,Emilio F. Merino,Anat Florentin,Nicole R. Holderman,Guijuan He,Katarzyna Gawarecka,Karolina Skorupinska-Tudek,Maria L. Fernández-Murga,Ewa Swiezewska,Xiaofeng Wang,Vasant Muralidharan,Maria B. Cassera +12 more
TL;DR: The metabolomics studies revealed that cis-polyisoprenoids are more diverse in the malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum than previously postulated as it was uncovered active de novo biosynthesis and substantial levels of accumulation of polyprenols and dolichols of 15 to 19 isoprene units.
Journal ArticleDOI
Isolation of the New Antiplasmodial Butanolide, Malleastrumolide A, from Malleastrum sp. (Meliaceae) from Madagascar.
Yongle Du,Alexander K. Abedi,Ana Lisa Valenciano,Maria L. Fernández-Murga,Maria B. Cassera,Maria B. Cassera,Vincent E. Rasamison,Wendy L. Applequist,James S. Miller,David G. I. Kingston +9 more
TL;DR: An extract of Malleastrum sp.
