Relationships between head morphology, bite performance and ecology in two species of Podarcis wall lizards

TL;DR: The findings suggest that the differences observed between species and sexes in head traits and bite performance are not reflected in their dietary ecology, implying that if trophic niche segregation between groups occurs, the reasons behind it are not primarily related to head morphology and functional variation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Conflicting patterns of nucleotide diversity between mtDNA and nDNA in the Moorish gecko, Tarentola mauritanica.

TL;DR: The mtDNA results reveal a Moroccan lineage basal to the common "European" haplotype, thus suggesting that the latter probably originated in Morocco, and nDNA data do not support the majority of the mtDNA phylogenetic relationships, possibly due to incomplete lineage sorting of these markers.
Journal ArticleDOI

Molecular Characterization of Hepatozoon Species in Reptiles from the Seychelles

TL;DR: Hepatozoon parasites were examined for the first time in reptiles from the Seychelles Islands as discussed by the authors, and they were detected in individuals from two endemic species, the lizard Mabuya wrightii and the snake Lycognathophis seychellensis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Molecular survey of Hepatozoon Species in Lizards From North Africa

TL;DR: The phylogenetic analysis of the 18S rRNA gene provides new insights into the phylogeny of these parasites with multiple genetically distinct lineages recovered, showing that there is limited host specificity and no clear relation to the geographical distribution of Hepatozoon parasites.
Journal ArticleDOI

An integrative taxonomic revision of the Cape Verdean skinks (Squamata, Scincidae)

TL;DR: An integrative taxonomic revision of the Cape Verdean skinks (Squamata, Scincidae) is published.
