Drawing upon theories from both the leadership and forgiveness domains, the overarching aim of this thesis was to answer a fundamental question. Namely, how and when does forgiveness unfold in Leader-Member Exchange (LMX) relationships and what are its outcomes? Even though it has been suggested that generic relationship knowledge from close relationship science can inform the understanding of LMX relationship maintenance, surprisingly little theoretical or empirical studies have addressed this area. By integrating both a framework of relationship maintenance mechanisms and a model of forgiveness in close relationships with LMX theory, study one developed and tested a model of forgiveness in LMX relationships. In a cross-sectional study involving 254 employees from eight organisations it was found that high LMX quality lead to higher job satisfaction and subjective well-being via greater follower’s forgiveness and subsequent follower’s relational efforts. Furthermore, it was found that higher levels of follower’s relationship self-efficacy and Leader-Member Exchange Social Comparison (LMXSC) enhanced follower’s forgiveness. The results of study one demonstrated that forgiveness of interpersonal transgressions in LMX relationships can lead to positive outcomes, and thus has important implications for LMX relationship maintenance and repair. Building on study one, study two adopted an experimental scenario design in order to examine the causal associations between LMX and forgiveness. Additionally, the study investigated the moderating role of forgiveness climate and the type of offence on follower’s forgiveness. The causal links between LMX and forgiveness were found for a competence-based offence but not for an integrity-based offence. Furthermore, it was found that forgiveness climate enhanced follower’s forgiveness in low quality (but not high quality) LMX relationships. This impact of forgiveness climate was found only following a low severity competence-based offence, and not following a high severity of competence-based or integrity-based offence. Overall, the findings of the thesis demonstrate that LMX relationships are vulnerable to interpersonal offences and that forgiveness could be used as a relationship maintenance strategy that yields positive outcomes.

Forgiveness in leader-member exchange (LMX) relationships: A multi-study examination of mediating and moderating mechanisms

Abstract Using the population-based data we aim to estimate the general population trends of multiple components of physical fitness of children, identify critical structural changes in these trends, and evaluate the potential changes in differences in the test scores between the children. During the entire study period, 1989–2019, median body mass index and triceps skinfold increased in both genders and all age groups. Muscular fitness, in general, showed negative trends, with some exceptions: during the post-2010 period, children were mostly experiencing the improvement of isometric strength of the upper body. The neuromuscular components of physical fitness showed positive trends, especially in girls. Cardiorespiratory fitness has been declining in all age groups until the last decade, with the largest decreases occurring before 2000. In the last decade, the trends reversed. The flexibility indicator revealed the largest differences between boys and girls, with boys mainly experiencing negative and girls mostly positive trends. The variability of the test scores mostly increased during the study period. This increasing variance suggests that—despite generally favourable trends in the last decade—children in Slovenia have been facing increasing inequalities in their development, which can potentially lead to future inequalities in health.

Secular trends in physical fitness of Slovenian boys and girls aged 7 to 15 years from 1989 to 2019: a population-based study

Cheese has been listed as one of four priority food groups intended for salt reduction reformulation. The present study aimed to investigate the possibility of producing Serbian white brined cheese (Homoljski Sir) with half of NaCl, three quarters of NaCl and all NaCl replaced with KCl (Na50, Na25 and Na0, respectively). Basic composition, proteolysis and texture profile parameters were monitored during 60 days of ripening. At the end of ripening, an acceptance test was conducted by untrained consumers (N = 46). According to the cluster analysis based on hedonic scores, three clusters emerged: male consumers (47.8%), agreeable consumers (30.4%) and highly educated female consumers (21.8%). Both partial and a total salt replacement had no effect on the course of proteolytical changes, the texture and basic composition during ripening. Female consumers did not accept any level of salt substitution, while male consumers showed dislike only for the Na0 cheese. Almost 80% of all consumers liked moderately-to-very-much the Na25 cheese variant. It implies that it is worth considering the production of cheese with 50–75% of NaCl replaced with KCl. The addition of natural flavoring and clear labeling of the sodium reduction should accompany the salt replacement strategy.

Sodium Reduction by Partial and Total Replacement of NaCl with KCl in Serbian White Brined Cheese

The objective of this research is to analyse smart technologies implemented in marinas and their impact upon the safety and service quality improvement, sustainability, and environmental protection, as well as energy consumption and operations optimization. KPI and a definition of smart marina concept have been derived based on the smart port concept. The analysis has been conducted on a sample of 78 marinas. Ultimately, the scientific analysis has been performed in order to determine the advantages and disadvantages of introducing smart technologies in marina management. The results indicate that the marinas are undergoing a revolution in terms of facilitating booking management process and achieving greater safety and service quality, but still need to improve in the field of monitoring and controlling nautical tourism impact upon the environment.

Food industry is highly affected by COVID‐19 pandemic;therefore, the preventive measures and precautions to be taken to reduce the risk of transmission of the SARS‐CoV‐2 virus and incidence of infection are necessary. This review integrate and analyze the available information and data on precautions of corona virus in food industry in pursuance of informing the public and the scientific community, as well as creating collective knowledge among food industry establishment and raising awareness of preventive measures during COVID‐19 pandemic. In this study, the information and data have been reviewed about the transmitting routs of the SARS‐CoV‐2 virus and the preventive measures and precautions to be taken in food industry during COVID‐19 pandemic in order to reduce the risk of transmission of the virus and incidence of the infection. The restriction of spreading corona virus through food industry in procedures, such as manufacturing, processing, packing, transporting. The transmitting routs of the SARS‐CoV‐2 virus are studied adequately in favor of suggesting strategies from the present scenarios. Limited number of publications has identified the risk factors for COVID‐19 and preventive measures, especially in food industry. Findings from this review may contribute to promoting research and spreading knowledge among food industry establishment and raise awareness of preventive measures in food industry during COVID‐19 pandemic.
