Journal ArticleDOI
Particle number (PN) emissions from gasoline, diesel, LPG, CNG and hybrid-electric light-duty vehicles under real-world driving conditions
TL;DR: In this article, solid (nonvolatile) particle number emissions with a size cut-off at 23-nm (SPN23, referred to as PN hereinafter) under real-world driving conditions for 8 passenger cars powered by diesel, gasoline, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), and hybrid-electric powertrains were analyzed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of fuel properties on particulate emissions of diesel cars equipped with diesel particulate filters
Anastasios Kontses,Athanasios Dimaratos,C. Keramidas,Rod Williams,H. Hamje,Leonidas Ntziachristos,Zissis Samaras +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of diesel fuel density, cetane number (CN), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) and fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) content on the mass, size distribution, and chemical composition of particulate matter emissions from modern light-duty vehicles was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of laboratory and real driving emissions of individual Euro 6 light-duty vehicles - Fresh particles and secondary aerosol formation.
Pauli Simonen,Joni Kalliokoski,Panu Karjalainen,Topi Rönkkö,Hilkka Timonen,Sanna Saarikoski,Minna Aurela,Matthew Bloss,Georgios Triantafyllopoulos,Anastasios Kontses,Stavros Amanatidis,Athanasios Dimaratos,Zissis Samaras,Jorma Keskinen,Miikka Dal Maso,Leonidas Ntziachristos +15 more
TL;DR: Using a novel approach to study secondary aerosol formation under real-drive conditions with the chase method resulted mostly in emission factors below detection limit, which was not in disagreement with the laboratory findings.
Journal ArticleDOI
Assessment of CO2 and NOx Emissions of One Diesel and One Bi-Fuel Gasoline/CNG Euro 6 Vehicles During Real-World Driving and Laboratory Testing
Athanasios Dimaratos,Zisimos Toumasatos,Stylianos Doulgeris,Georgios Triantafyllopoulos,Anastasios Kontses,Zissis Samaras +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated the real-world environmental performance of two Euro 6 passenger cars, one equipped with a common-rail diesel engine, Lean NOx Trap (LNT) and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), and the second one, a bi-fuel gasoline/CNG one, equipped with Three Way Catalyst (TWC).
Journal ArticleDOI

Konstandopoulos,Stephane Zinola,Silvana Di Iorio,Francesco Catapano,Bianca Maria Vaglieco,Heinz Burtscher,Gill Nicol,D. Zamora,M. Maggiore +55 more
TL;DR: In this article , the results of three EU-funded projects (DownToTen, PEMs4Nano and SUREAL-23) supported the understanding, measurement and regulation of particle emissions below 23 nm and have successfully developed sub-23 nm particle measurement devices.
