Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of benthivorous bream (Abramis brama) and carp (Cyprinus carpio) on sediment resuspension and concentrations of nutrients and chlorophyll a
TL;DR: No relationship was found between size of fish and amount of resuspension, but the effect of bream was twice as great as that of carp, and Silicate, chlorophyll a, total P and total N were all positively correlated with fish biomass, but orthophosphate showed no correlation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Silver eel mortality during downstream migration in the River Meuse, from a population perspective
TL;DR: In this article, the impact of hydropower and fisheries during the downstream migration of silver eels in the River Meuse was investigated using 18 detection stations (NedapTrail-System®) in the river and two at the entrance to the hydropowered turbines.
Journal ArticleDOI
Escapement Success And Patterns Of Downstream Migration Of Female Silver Eel Anguilla Anguilla In The River Meuse
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used remote telemetry in the lower part of the River Meuse (Belgium and the Netherlands) using a combination of nine detection stations and manual tracking.
Journal ArticleDOI
Assessment of population size and migration routes of silver eel in the River Rhine based on a 2-year combined mark-recapture and telemetry study
Jan G. P. Klein Breteler,Tim Vriese,Jost Borcherding,André Breukelaar,Lothar Jörgensen,Stefan Staas,Gerard de Laak,Detlev Ingendahl +7 more
TL;DR: Barreeler et al. as discussed by the authors assessed the population size and migration routes of silver eels in the River Rhine based on a 2-year combined mark-recapture and telemetry study.
Journal ArticleDOI
Route choices, migration speeds and daily migration activity of European silver eels Anguilla anguilla in the River Rhine, north‐west Europe
TL;DR: Downstream migration of Anguilla anguilla silver eels was studied in the Lower Rhine, Germany, and the Rhine Delta, The Netherlands, in 2004-2006 and it is suggested that many A. anguillas temporarily ceased migration, but that fishing mortality could have been important during passage through the Dutch parts of the Rhineland.
