Molecular Survey of Bacterial Zoonotic Agents in Bats from the Country of Georgia (Caucasus).

TL;DR: The results suggest that bats in Georgia are exposed to multiple bacterial infections and further studies are needed to evaluate pathogenicity of these agents to bats and their zoonotic potential.
Journal ArticleDOI

Prevalence, diversity, and host associations of Bartonella strains in bats from Georgia (Caucasus).

TL;DR: Bartonella infections were investigated in seven species of bats from four regions of the Republic of Georgia and some Bartonella genotypes found in bats clustered with those identified in dogs from Thailand and humans from Poland.

Isolated population of the Middle Eastern Phoenicolacerta laevis from the Georgian Black Sea Coast, and its genetic closeness to populations from southern Turkey

TL;DR: This article found an isolated but dense population of this species at and around the castle of Anaklia on Georgia's Black Sea Coast, near the mouth of the river Enguri, and the analysis of mitochondrial cytochrome b sequence suggests closeness of this population to the populations in the provinces of Kahramanmaras, Adana and Icel in southern Turkey, rather than to those in Lebanon and Israel.
