Journal ArticleDOI
Gene dysregulation is restored in the Parkinson's disease MPTP neurotoxic mice model upon treatment of the therapeutic drug Cu(II)(atsm).
Lesley Cheng,Lesley Cheng,Camelia Quek,Lin W. Hung,Lin W. Hung,Robyn A. Sharples,Nicki A. Sherratt,Kevin J. Barnham,Kevin J. Barnham,Andrew F. Hill,Andrew F. Hill +10 more
TL;DR: This study provides the first detailed whole transcriptomic analysis of pathways involved in MPTP-induced Parkinsonism and identifies key therapeutic pathways targeted by a potentially new class of neuroprotective agents which may provide therapeutic benefits for other neurodegenerative disorders.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ablation of tau causes an olfactory deficit in a murine model of Parkinson’s disease
Leah C. Beauchamp,Leah C. Beauchamp,Jacky Chan,Lin W. Hung,Benjamin S. Padman,Laura J Vella,Xiang M. Liu,Bradley M. Coleman,Ashley I. Bush,Michael Lazarou,Andrew F. Hill,Andrew F. Hill,Laura H. Jacobson,Laura H. Jacobson,Kevin J. Barnham,Kevin J. Barnham +15 more
TL;DR: Data implicate a pathological role for tau in early Parkinson’s disease and initial primary cell culture experiments have demonstrated that ablation of tau results in the release of α-synuclein enriched exosomes, providing a potential mechanism for disease spread.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prion subcellular fractionation reveals infectivity spectrum, with a high titre-low PrPres level disparity.
Victoria Lewis,Cathryn L. Haigh,Colin L. Masters,Andrew F. Hill,Victoria A. Lawson,Steven J. Collins +5 more
TL;DR: This study authenticates a subcellular disparity in PrPres and infectivity levels, and eliminates simultaneous divergence of prion strains as the explanation for this phenomenon, and align best with the concept that transmission efficiency is influenced more by intrinsic characteristics of the infectious prion, rather than cellular microenvironment conditions or absolute PrPres levels.
Journal ArticleDOI
iSRAP - a one-touch research tool for rapid profiling of small RNA-seq data
TL;DR: A one-touch integrated small RNA analysis pipeline (iSRAP) research tool that is composed of widely used tools for rapid profiling of small RNAs that offers comprehensive analysis of small RNA sequencing data that leverage informed decisions on the downstream analyses of smallRNA studies, including extracellular vesicles such as exosomes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modification of lipid rafts by extracellular vesicles carrying HIV-1 protein Nef induces redistribution of amyloid precursor protein and Tau, causing neuronal dysfunction
Michael Ditiatkovski,Nigora Mukhamedova,Dragana Dragoljevic,Anh Hoang,Hann Low,Tatiana Pushkarsky,Ying Fu,Irena Carmichael,Andrew F. Hill,Andrew J. Murphy,Michael Bukrinsky,Dmitri Sviridov,Dmitri Sviridov +12 more
TL;DR: Modification of neuronal cholesterol trafficking and of lipid rafts by Nef may contribute to early stages of neurodegeneration and pathogenesis in HAND.
