ACE inhibitors increase type III collagen synthesis: a potential explanation for reduction in acute vascular events by ACE inhibitors.

TL;DR: It is suggested that ACE-I therapy up-regulates collagen synthesis, and could improve plaque stabilisation, which may provide an explanation for the decrease in acute vascular events observed in patients on ACE- I therapy.

TL;DR: Clinical outcomes following PB were significantly better than in patients undergoing SB after failed PBA in the BASIL trial, and clinicians should consider that if this should fail, the outcome of attempted subsequent bypass is likely to be significantly worse than if PB were attempted.
